Pros: Friendly staff, great airport shuttle.
Cons: A bar. A bit noisy, traffic and airplanes.
Location: Not much to do nearby. We had to walk 10 blocks or so to some good restaurants.
Bargain hotel, comfortable, simple, great shower, and great air conditioner. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The day reception person has excellent English not so the nightime staff, but if you don't have Spanish you can manage with a little sign language. The breakfast quality depends on the chef of the day, sometimes ok sometimes not. The airport shuttle was fantastic. Make reservation for arrival pickup via email (confirmation speedily returned) and you are met when you exit customs. We were in and out several times and always promptly taken to and from the airport without a hitch. The only drawback to this hotel is that they serve no alcohol, not even beer. You go have to walk a couple blocks down the street to the Estancia Steak House for your Marguerita or Cervesa.

Short but pleasant stayPosted Jan 14, 2014
Pros: Very comfortable room and beds with a large walk-in shower
We stayed from 11PM until 5AM one night but were picked up promptly at the airport by the shuttle, had a comfortable stay in a very nice room and got a ride back to the airport early in the AM. It was our first time through Guatemala so it was a bit surprising to see the armed guard wearing a ski mask in front of the hotel at 5 AM!

Nice StayPosted Oct 30, 2013
Pros: Good rooms, wifi, parking, and breakfast.
Cons: Rooms could be better equipped with lights.
I've been to Howard Johnson several times on business trips and expect to return again. It's a fair deal. Good breakfast included, good rooms, and overall a good experience. Fortunately the wireless router was in front of our room, so we had good wifi service. We rented a car and parked right at the front door. Several restaurants and pharmacies are within a few blocks.

Pros: convenient location
Cons: tortillas on the breakfast menu, and fresh o.j., not the imitation tang
very noisy, on busy street. maybe a higher floor would have been quieter.

Great for a stop overPosted Oct 9, 2013
Staff was very helpful. The shuttle driver was there with an easy to read sign with my name. Rooms are not big but clean no funny smells and good airconditioning.the wick works great in the lobby. Will stay here again.

Lovely staff. Pleasant Hotel.Posted Sep 11, 2013
Pros: THE STAFF
Cons: The quality of the food inside the hotel. It is expensive but it is not that nice for the price. Its portions could be bigger and meals cheaper.
Location: There are local stalls, restaurants and takeout places a few blocks down. You can walk but You need a taxi mainly as there isnt much around or close
We stayed at the Howard Johnson for a week. The first room we had was very small and it was facing the street. We asked for another room that is bigger and not so noisy and they accommodated our requests. We were moved to a bigger room and it was dark and quiet. Perfect for light sleepers and plenty of sleep. THE STAFF WERE THE HIGHLIGHT OF OUR TRIP. They were friendly, nice and helped with all our questions. Most spoke English inside the Hotel but the rest speak Spanish. Unfortunately the hotel is situated in an industrial area so there are not many food places close, but if you like walking it is safe to walk through the day. A few blocks away is a few take out places and restaurants and there are a few local stall o a long the way. I recommend eating somewhere else if you have time, rather then the hotel food. The hotel food is arranged in a beautiful way but it doesn't taste all that great for the price. But its convenient to eat at the hotel tand for the price of the hotel per night I guess the food is not too bad. You get what you pay for at this Hotel, but they help arrange taxis, air port transfers, directions, they have room service, cleaners come everyday which is a bonus. There is a nice gym with a few machines. One bike, a treadmill, a punching bag and a few other ones. If you plan on staying for only a few days this is the perfect hotel. If you are planning on only sleeping and relaxing its a great hotel and ITS CHEAP. :) We enjoyed our stay at Howard Johnson.

Terrible traffic noise all night and day.Posted Aug 7, 2013
Cons: Had to be a total new hotel.
Location: Bigger rooms and bathrooms. Traffic noise is terrible. Staff needs to be friendly.
Very bad very small rooms that my wife and i couldn't walk in the room at the same time. We had bought three nights online and we decided to loose two nights but to get out of that prison.

Great hotelPosted Apr 16, 2013
I've stayed here several times, and I'm not disappointed. I'll definitely consider this hotel again. Clean and comfortable rooms with breakfast included, free wireless internet, and a parking lot right at the door with a reasonable price call me back.
