Overpriced

Posted May 1, 2014
Cons: Price, price price.... and also breakfast which was very basic
we stayed at the hotel during the Eater celebration weekend (the Semana Santa) and paid almost USD 160 per night (including Expedia fees of about USD 30). At first we thought the price is justified because the city is very busy during the holiday. Later when we wanted to extend by one more night and that hotel was sold out, we booked at another hotel (Casa Valle) at half price!!! this other hotel is much closer to the city center, have better breakfast and the fallibility and the rooms are more luxurious.

a nice place, a bit pricey

Posted Apr 4, 2014 on Hotels.com
I would recommend the hotel...I suggest the traveler speak good Spanish as no one spoke English. Also, bring cash as the credit card system was down both nights of our stay. It is a bit of a walk to downtown, so bring some good walking shoes for the cobblestone streets. This hotel was clean and well appointed with an accommodating staff.

Home away from Home

I had the misfortune of breaking my leg during our visit to Antigua and the hotel staff was a God sent. Caring, available, accommodating ... pick a positive adjective and it will apply. We had a chance to observe their interaction with other guests who had no special needs like we did and you could tell all of the staff was dedicated to top notch service. We would highly recommend this hotel based on service, comfort, cleanliness and intangibles.

Perfect mid-price hotel.

Posted Mar 27, 2014
Pros: With only six rooms, Las Iglesias is a small, very intimate hotel that feels friendly and inviting.
Cons: A small, wall-mounted fan in each room would be nice for a little air movement and a little white noise (it's almost too quiet!).
Las Iglesias Hotel is just about perfect as a mid-price hotel in Antigua. It's tastefully decorated and so new that most taxi and shuttle drivers haven't yet heard of it. I like that it's a little outside of the touristy center of Antigua (very quiet) but only 7 minutes from the Parque Central on foot and 10 minutes from La Merced Church. The web site indicated that a continental breakfast is included with the room rate, but it's actually a full breakfast--either pancakes and fruit or desayuno tipico (a "typical" Guatemalan breakfast of eggs, refried black beans, and fried plantains). Both options include orange juice and either coffee or tea. The staff is very friendly and took great care of us during our stay. The weekday manager speaks very good English if your Spanish is limited. Room #1 is the biggest and nicest of the rooms with a single queen-size bed, but I liked the relative privacy of room #6 on the second floor since I wasn't sharing the room with anyone. Rooms #4 and 5 are the best rooms for guests needing more than one bed as they are more private than rooms #2 and 3. If I ever go back to Antigua, I will definitely stay at Las Iglesias.

Great experience

Posted Mar 22, 2014
Pros: Everything
Cons: Wouldn't change a thing
Location: The hotel was a good starting point to tour the churches and just close enoughtto the central plaza to easily visit but not hear the noise.
We enjoyed our two days at Las Iglesias. The staff are warm, friendly and very helpful. The room was clean and quiet. They do a very nice breakfast. We especially loved the sunset view over the volcanoes from the roof.

Fantastic experience

Posted Mar 21, 2014
Pros: Staff were very friendly and helpful; rooms were clean and comfortable; hotel had character and was aesthetically pleasing.
Location: Approximately a 10 minute leisurely walk from the central park.
This place was a hidden gem. Approaching it, all we saw was an unprepossessing wall with a large door... upon passing through the door, however, we found a delightfully refreshing garden and a place with tons of character. There were 4 of us staying a single night in this hotel and our rooms were more than adequately sized (one room had 2 double beds, the other had 2 double beds and one single bed). A rooftop terrace gives you a panoramic view of all three volcanoes. Hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. We were served a very pleasant private breakfast in the morning. Location was nice and quiet, but within an easy walking distance of the centre of town.

Pros: Staff
Cons: clothing space.
Very nice staff, the Wi-fi very slow at the 2nd floor. The hotel is close to "down town", and tuc tuc experience is unforgettable. Overall a good experience.

Excellent staff!I Nice hotel, cozy but small room

Posted Mar 3, 2014
Pros: The service of the people.
Location: A bit far from everything.
The only thing is that the rooms are small. I asked before going to the hotel, calling directly, for a 2 queen bedroom, which they confirmed me, the room number 2, but upon arrival they had only 1 queen and a twin bed for me instead of 2 Queens. Besides that I should say that the hotel is very clean, cozy and beatiful.
