Lovely hotel in Antigua

Posted Apr 27, 2015
Pros: Aesthetics: lovely garden, colonial architecture; attentive and gracious staff.
Location: Easy walk to Antigua center.
When we arrived we were shown to a small room, dark and hot. We had stayed at Porta Hotel Antigua earlier, and requested another room. We were shown a similar room in another section of the building, near a busy street. We talked to the front desk manager, and were given a lovely, spacious, light and fresh room. Staff and security were amazingly attentive, 24 hours a day.

Pros: Great location in Antigua, can walk anywhere
Cons: Hotel is noisy on week ends because each week end they have weddings with loud music on late in the night. Beds are firm and double size.

Porta Hotel

Posted Apr 14, 2015
Pros: Great location, peaceful, tranquil, majestic volcanoes.
Cons: The coffee machine in the room did not work. New machine produced horrible tasting coffee. Very disappointing for top coffee producing country.
Location: So much to do hard to list all. Carriage ride is a must, excellent eateries, must visit Filadelfia coffee. Welt restaurant. Spend time in the park.
Porta Hotel Antigua hides in plain sight. Awesome!

Gorgeous grounds; walk to anywhere.

Posted Mar 30, 2015
This hotel has great character! Beautiful gardens and very nicely decorated. Beds were comfortable and rooms had everything needed for a nice stay. Easy to walk anywhere, but it's far enough from the center to stay relatively quiet. We felt completely safe. The food is quite good too. The wait staff aren't very attentive and the bartender doesn't appear to have much experience, but this may be quite typical - or at least, I've found it to be in the smaller towns. For the price, I did have higher expectations in these areas. Overall, a very nice place to spend time - we'll go back again.

Loved it!

Posted Mar 16, 2015
Pros: Everything.
Cons: Everything was fine.
Location: Great location, very close to the plaza, restaurants and shopping. Try Inca Restaurante, delicous Peruvian food 4th Ave South #10.
I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Porta Antigua. The hotel is very nice, I love everything about it. The staff was friendly, specially Karina and Evelyn, they helped me booked some activities. The grounds are beautiful, I didn't get to use the pool, but everything looked really nice. The restaurant is nice, I had breakfast there and it was good. I would stay here again. Thank you!!

Best all round hotel stay for families in Antigua.

This 200 room + hotel built in colonial style with actual sections preserved from the 17th century is an oasis just 3 blocks from the Parqueo Central (central park). The court yard has a beautiful pool and table service and a fully equipped gym is steps away. There are spa service to gently massage away whatever you're running from or to. Check-in is quick. This was our second trip to Antigua (from Honduras) with guests in a month. Both times we stayed at the Porta. Luxury for a great price!! Percy the concierge is fantastic!
