Nice older hotel

Posted Jun 24, 2014
Pros: Staff and food superior. There interior fi shout in this hotel is excellent. Very well done and very well maintained.
Cons: Redo or eliminate the elevator security system.
Location: There is a shopping mall within a few blocks of the hotel
This is a well kept older hotel with excellent staff. There are 2 restaurants both of which serve excellent food. Really the only negative thing we experiences was an elevator security thing. You must slide your room key in a slot inside the elevator to ride up to your room. Several tomes this did not work. Bellman and other guests experience the same thing. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel. Very nice. Excellent staff.

Elegant hotel, but service changes need to be made

Posted May 6, 2014 on Hotels.com
The hotel is gorgeous, but my room was musty and a mildew smell. My biggest complaint, however, was they will nickel and dime you for services. Room water costs around 5 bucks a bottle. I was there on business and needed to print some docs and it cost one dollar a page. A room overhaul and correction to these complaints would make it a perfect stay

Luxurious hotel close to airport

Posted Apr 15, 2014
Staff was so friendly, though maids seemed to speak loud in hallways for some reason? Other than that, everyone very helpful, great dining and room service! Would definitely go again to this hotel and will place a preference on Starwood hotels.

Pros: Great service, security and entertainment.
Cons: The security card reader was broken in the elevator. Stop waking up people to ask if everything is ok with the room.
This hotel is good for family and business stays it has great service and entertainment.

Nickle and Dime

Posted Mar 5, 2014
The gym is really nice, as is the pool. The room is only OK, with run-of-the-mill furniture, dingy wallpaper. The bathroom is nice -- seems like the bathroom was updated but not the rest of the room. The disappointing part is that given the price, I got charged for little things that other hotels include in the price. There are five things that I disliked: internet, which was slow, cost $15/day -- given the price, it should have been spectacular; breakfast was not included; to leave a bag for more than one day costs $5/day; the coffee maker cost $2.40 to use; and no free bottles of drinking water - annoying given that it is not recommended to drink water from the tap. All five of these things, I see in other hotels. I would rather pay a little more and not get nickle-and-dimed wherever I turn. This is, of course, I purely personal reaction, and others might be happy, especially if they hang out at the pool. For me, I won't be back.

Nice hotel but dangerous neighbour hood

Posted Feb 15, 2014 on Hotels.com
We stayed there for two nights recently and while the hotel is up to the standard of the Westin chain, we always find the beds too soft, wake up with a sore back every morning. Nevertheless, the executive floor is good though the breakfast service was very crowded, they need a larger room for the number of people using it. The neighbourhood, while not their responsibility is quite dangerous, they didn't want us to walk half a block to a restaurant and there were men with shotguns on every corner. This is true of most of Guatemala City, so it is still a nice hotel for a day or two.
