Good ambience

Posted May 17, 2014
The first night I was placed in a horrible room it was small, soft mattress, TV, safe broken. The next day I was moved to a much better room which changed my total view of the hotel. It is a beautiful old -style Georgetown style hotel and should be preserved. In the end I enjoyed my sty including the Wednesday night quiz.

Charming hotel, and staff

Posted Apr 10, 2014
Pros: Arriving late at night, not only had the hotel prepared a snack, but the kitchen agreed to cook a main course despite being closed.
A great hotel, staff could not have been more helpful. The food was very good, breakfast freshly prepared each day, and the bar was a hive of buzzing activity without being raucous or noisy.

pleasant boutique hotel for a short stay

Posted Apr 3, 2014
Pros: tropical atmosphere
Cons: faster internet
Location: restaurants and water holes 5 minutes away , use yellow taxis, cheap and friendly
old world plantation atmosphere. service a bit languid but friendly amenities are a bit spartan but Guyana is not rich although developing only problem was loud air-condition and cold draft too strong but there is ceiling fan good value for money, my address on short business visits to Georgetown and vicinity no pool but nice local breakfast dishes

Pros: Great location. A wonderful colonial type hotel with lots of original features. Very helpful staff, good homemade food and a wonderful atmosphere.
Cons: Air vents in the bathroom.
Location: In the heart of Georgetown where lots of very old buildings and museums are nearby. Try the local food. Great chinese restaurant on main street.
Enjoyed our stay in Guyana. A trip to Keiture Falls is a must.

Comfortable hotel.

Posted Sep 22, 2013
Pros: Breakfast and dinner at the hotel was great. I would be remised if I did not say that the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful.
Cons: It was interesting to find such small soaps in the bath room. Will recommend that larger soaps be provided.
Location: Great location , in close proximity to night life.
My stay was short , but it was a good experience . I would stay at the cara lodge again.

charming, well kept hotel in center of Georgetown

Posted Jan 2, 2013
Pros: The authentic building, wood, well maintained, lots of trees and plants, Charm.
Cons: The watery drinks for breakfast - which should have been real fruit juices - even for an extra charge - it would have been worth it
Location: Perfect location if you have to be in Georgetown. Book your tour in advance, especially to Kayateur Falls
Enjoyed out stay - extended by two extra days. Probably the best place in Georgetown. Charm, hotel well kept, clean, friendly staff, nice restaurant. Would have like a bit more variety on the menu, better breakfast and REAL fruit juice. a bit more information on tours would also be good.

Quiet, Historic Hotel

Posted Dec 21, 2012
Pros: location
Cons: inability of staff to answer simple questions
Location: quiet street no far from city center
This hotel is a historic house. It has a nice patio area. The bar attendant was very helpful. The staff in the restaurant were OK but unable to explain the items on the menu. I asked to use a scale to weigh my suitcase and they procured a scale, but gave it back, without letting me know there was a time limit, before it could be used. The hotel is located on a street that is generally quiet. It is a 10-15 walk to the main business district. It is a good idea to pick up literature at the airport as the hotel does not provide a map of Georgetown or other tourist information.

Comfortable, pity about reception staff

Posted Oct 18, 2011
Excellent but slow restaurant, try wonderful snapper for breakfast! Free wifi and good sized rooms but one of our party moved 3 times to get working shower and mine broke so some maintaenance problems. Reception never responded to emails and staff very offhand. tried to get adaptor, long wait. Reception always seem to be on phone and keep people waiting, then a bit offhand with requests. All in all probably the best all round (especially the restaurant - people from Pegasus hotel there -airline staff)
