Nice room with comfortable beds

Posted Jun 11, 2014
Pros: Comfortable beds
Cons: Asked for some tea bags but was unable to deliver - just keep it handy near the reception if the guest is ok to pick it up.
Location: Very central - couldn't be better
A friend and I shared a room for 3 nights. It was good overall experience. The room was clean and comfortable. Nice antiques and timepieces throughout the hotel - in reception, corridors etc. - gives it a nice touch.

mixed thoughts

This was a bit of an interesting stay. First of all, the location in the center of Haarlem was a bag. It's great for walking around town, finding food and drinks, etc. It's terrible for street noise at night as everyone seems to really get going after midnight and keep it up until sometimes 3 or 4 in the morning, so it's quite loud with the people out at the bars just outside your room...It's as though the windows aren't even there! Next, our bed wasn't great as it was two single beds pushed together with nothing to hold the mattresses in place, so they would love apart all the time and you can get caught in the crevice. We've stayed in many hotels with the two single beds pushed together but have never had as big a problem as this. The shower was as I read from someone else - just an open shower in the toilet room with no curtain or anything, so it's a little messy and there's no where near the shower itself to set soap, shampoo, or anything, so you end up leaving it on the sink and walking over to get it, which gets everything wet. The worst part, though, was that we came back to the room after a day out to find it wide open with a towel wedged under it to hold it open. We thought maybe housekeeping was still there, but the room was empty, so we can only assume it was wide open all day for anyone to have a look through all our things and take whatever they wanted. Thankfully, nothing was missing. The front desk didn't really offer to do anything about this except speak to housekeeping. The room was clean, and that was good, but not much else.

Perfect for price

Lovely helpful staff. In great part of Harlem. Easy walk to train station, Amsterdam city about 15 minute train ride. Wifi in room. Breakfast was reasonable. Staff respected the do not disturb sign on door even if you weren't there but didn't want them to make up your room during the day, but they were kind enough to put bag with fresh towels and toiletries on door for you. Room we were in was a little noisy, but stay in the centre of Harlem it has to be expected.

One night in the Ambassador City Centre Hotel

Posted Oct 21, 2013
Pros: Location was good, staf were very helpful and polite.
Cons: The carpet looked a bit diry, and the bathroom looked very basic for rthe rest everything was very good.
Location: location is excelent can't find a better place when visiting Haarlem or Amsterdam for that matter.
It was easy to find the hotel as it is on the main square of Haarlem next to the main church of the city. Our room was to the back of the hotel and there fore very quiet. The bed bed was very comfortable and the staff were very polite and helpful. It was a very nice stay.

Except for its excellent location the hotel was just average in everything else. Too expensive for what it really offers.

Pros: Nothing. It was close to good resturants. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone
Cons: Dirty carpets, worst shower in all five hotels we stayed in in Europe. Hot now air comditioning.
The worst hotel we stayed in Europe. Noisy location. They looked like that could have had a nice breakfast but it was very expensive. !4 euros.

Nice hotel for independent travellers

Posted Jun 3, 2013
Pros: Helpful staff
Cons: Noise
Location: 10 minutes walk from the railway station but central to Haalem and all facilities
Despite not being able to find our reservation or booking number, the staff sat us down with refreshments and were soon able to find us a room with an upgrade. The bed was extremely comfortable, however the person who sited the only mirror in the room (in the bathroom) was clearly well over 6 feet tall as I could only see the top half of my head and I'm 5 feet 6". It would have been nice to have had a second mirror at the dressing table. The only downside was the position of our room, with the window facing the narrow street to the side of the hotel. The people partying outside on our second night were shouting until around 4am which didn't make for a restful night's sleep. We only stayed for two nights so I have no idea if it was a one off. We chose to eat breakfast elsewhere as 30 euros each seemed steep. Haalem itself was lovely with great shops and plenty of nice restaurants and bars. Days were spent in Amsterdam and the hotel is a 10 minute walk from Haalem railway station. Access by car is limited and there isn't a car park so guests have to be prepared for a walk, however they travel. Overall a nice hotel, but I would request a room that doesn't overlook the side road if I stayed again.

Perfect for relaxation and Amsterdamn travel

Posted May 29, 2013 on Hotels.com
Everything was every was up to our expectations. Our whole plan was to go to the national museum and Gardens which was easy to get to while staying here. 20 mins by train to Amsterdamn, so it wasn't bad, bus to the gardens was a little long but we made the best of it. Hotel breakfast was good, best I've had for a buffet in years. Cost not bad since amsterdamn was too expensive for us. Either way it was in the center of the city and it was well worth using this hotel vice any other. We plan to stay here again!

Lovely Hotel

Lovely little hotel conveniently located just off the main square and only a short walk from the train station. The room was clean and the hotel charmingly decorated with antique furniture. The shower would have benefitted from having an edge to stop the entire bathroom floor from getting wet. We had a top floor room with a high beamed ceiling that, whilst giving the room character, meant that the room took a long time to heat up and never really got warm (would be very cold in the winter!). Overall we very much enjoyed our stay and would stay here again if ever back in Haarlem.
