Hardly the "Best" Western

Posted Aug 26, 2014
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Cleanliness, lighting.
The only good thing you could say about this hotel is that it was cheap. The first room we were given had no light in the bathroom and so we were moved to another room. The second room was very musty and we had to run the air conditioner on high for hours to air it out. The lighting was terrible, low-wattage CFL bulbs that gave off little, yellow light. The same bulbs were used all over the hotel so the lobby and halls also were dingy. Someone had apparently put a new vanity top in the bathroom, but had not replaced the tiles that were removed for the installation so there was bare wall with pieces of grout stuck on it. Also, the wallpaper over the vanity was stained. The towels were rough and paper thin. Whoever had 'cleaned' the bathroom left used soap in the soap dish in the bath tub. We have stayed in many Best Western hotels over the year and this has to be the worst.

Unsatisfactory stay

Posted Aug 23, 2014
Pros: Lobby was ok. Staff were friendly and apologetic.
Cons: Almost everything.
Location: Hotel was far from everything.
We stayed a night on our way to Williamsburg and was disappointed at the cleanliness of the room. The bathroom had a strong mildew odour. The only tiny table in the room was rickety and the arms on the chairs were loose. We took a look at the tiny outdoors pool and was unimpressed. The queen size beds we booked was actually a double size and they didn't have another room for replacement.

Offthe Beaten Path but Very Comfortable

Posted Aug 22, 2014
Pros: Staff friendliness and helpfulness.
Location: About three miles off highway. Was traveling through, so did not take advantage of local attractions.
Hotel was about three miles into town from highway I-81 but better than other hotels closer to the highway and worth the extra time to get there. Hotel staff on check-in (Calvin) was extremely friendly and helpful. After a long, tiring drive, the effort to make us comfortable was appreciated. Hotel lobby was large with elevator to the second floor. Room was good-sized, comfortable and quiet. Breakfast standard, but very good. Would recommend stay there.

Two night stay for travel to PA

Posted Jun 26, 2014
Pros: Nothing
The hotel appeared to be outdated Furniture in room was broken and uncomfortable. The young lady at the front desk from the Czech Republic was as cute as she could be and brightened up the lobby. She was very helpful and handled all requested. The morning lady at the desk was also very charming and great with directions and maps. Food in breakfast room was good but in short supply due to the amount o soccer teams booked at the hotel. There was zero counter space in .the bath but the room was OK. I will stay elsewhere if I have to come back to Hagerstown.

Cons: slight issue was that my shower had no shower curtain. I reported it at 6:30 am and wasn't fixed until after my departure at 10:00am. still showered
Nice hotel staff and very clean. Breakfast was amazing! Pool and hot tub were both cold. Oh well...can't have everything.

Terrible location. Heard nothing but sirens.

Posted Jun 9, 2014
Pros: Nothing
Cons: See above
Location: Terrible location.
Terrible staff. No one at desk when arrived. Sign posted "be back in 5 minutes". When he finally showed up, very unplesant. He was running around all over the place, only person on duty. Bad location, too close to town, sirens and traffice heard all night. Room extremely outdated. Old air conditioning unit in room, however the noise of it helped drown out the traffic noise. The bathroom was disgusting, not clean at all, extremely old wallpaper, Kleenex bin on wall grungy, toilet hardly flushed. Only given two towels & two face cloths. Coffee in lobby was like mud, no cream left. Had to ask for cream and he had to go running up to 2nd floor to get it from breakfast room to get it & then it was warm. There were no snacks left.

Location: Stadium restaurant and pub was nice for a quick bite to eat.
Upon arrival, I looked out the window and the outdoor pool was empty. I was told by the manager that the pool was under renovation. The reason that I chose this hotel over others in the area was to be able to use the pool. It was Memorial Day weekend and the pool should have been open. The manager suggested that I cancel the reservation and try another hotel in the area that has a pool. After driving 4 hours, the last thing that I wanted to do was to look for another hotel!
