Not close to the train stationPosted Aug 14, 2013
Pros: Nothing particuarly outstanding
Cons: Price is a bit high for the location and quality. Not a great value.
Location: Hakodate is a stop over to train from Hokkaido to Honshu. Vicinity to train station is most desirable.
We chose this hotel because it appeared close to the train station on the Expedia map. It is not. I had an injured knee and could not walk the distance and had to use a cab. An unexpected expense and inconvenience.

Inexpensive, clean & nice locationPosted Aug 5, 2013
Pros: Clean, roomy and convenient rooms at business hotel rates.
Very nice hotel. Reasonably sized room (especially by Japan standards) that comfortably accommodated two people. The location is in a quiet nice centrally located neighborhood that is within easy (~10 min) walking distance of either coast, and is well connected with the rest of the city by the Tram, which has a stop that is within a few hundred meters of the hotel entrance. We found Hakodate to be a very nice walking-around city with nice neighborhoods. The hotel is in a quiet pleasant neighborhood that we enjoyed being part of for the few days we were there.

Great locationPosted Jul 29, 2013 on Hotels.com
My family of four stayed at the Chisun from July 19-25, 2013. We had a standard triple room (703). It was small, but adequate and clean. We had enough room to open our suitcases and still walk around. My biggest complaint is that the wifi signal did not reach our room. We could connect by walking down the hall towards the elevators but could not hang on to the signal to use in our room. Other family members staying closer to the elevators did not have this problem. The location is great. Five minute walk to Red Brick Warehouse district for souvenir shopping. Convenience store right across the street. Fantastic bakery two doors down called Paint that sold delicious pastries and breads that we ate most mornings. Bakery is closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Full grocery store about five minute walk in opposite direction of brick warehouse (Super Vocko). Small playground right near hotel that my children enjoyed. The tram is a two minute walk away. If coming by train to JR station it is too far to walk with luggage. Probably a 15 - 20 minute walk. Motomachi church area is worth exploring. Beautiful architecture. Lucky Pierrot restaurant nearby was a disappointment. Fries and onion rings were good but tried burgers twice and both were barely edible. Would definitely recommend and likely stay again if I am ever back in Hakodate.

Smoking RoomPosted Jul 26, 2013 on Hotels.com
Upon arrival I was informed I requested a smoking room. I'm a 100% I did not ask for this option (and confirmed with my reservation receipt). The staff later agreed. Nonetheless, the hotel staff still put me in a smoking room and told me no other rooms were available, unless I was willing to pay more for a nonsmoking room "with a view". Fairly disappointing service...

This hotel is all you need in Hakodate. We had a couple of rooms here over our stay and they both had really nice view (one of Hakodate mountain and the other of the city). The room is not that big but the addition of a balcony can help (to put suitcases or anything of that sort).Overall 4/5.
