Mother's Day Trip

Posted Sep 15, 2014
Pros: The beds where comfortable and the room was clean.
Cons: List of local restaurants in the area, fast food and sit down.
Location: there are shops in Downtown Half Moon Bay.
I took my mother on a trip for mother's day to San Francisco for the weekend. The motel was smaller than we expected, but we just needed it to sleep and keep our items in since most of our trip was spent in San Francisco. The room was clean and the beds were very comfortable so we had a good nights sleep. The bathroom had plenty of room to move around in and it had a coffee maker. The room had a flat screen so I brought my laptop & HDMI cord and we were able to watch some movies. I couldn't get my laptop to connect with their wifi, so I had to use the hotspot on my smartphone. Half Moon Bay is a small town. There is a Mexican restaurant right next door (can walk there). There is a gas station across the street and a little further down is a grocery store, CVS, Burger King and some other shops. If you want a sit down restaurant then the one next door is the closest. If you go further south (the way we came in) there is a couple more restaurants. It is about a 30 min drive from Half Moon Bay to San Francisco and the drive was really beautiful.

3 mins drive to beach and free park at night

Posted Aug 29, 2014
Pros: Have breakfast on the deck outside is really nice. We chat with people from Germany, and even seattle!
We have a wonderful time there and my son and his classmate play the sands on the beach all the time. Great waves and nice beach. Not crowded and you can even see a seal swimming along the beach!

"Adequate" hotel, nothing fancy but a good deal

Posted Aug 29, 2014
While it's nothing special, this hotel was a good deal - rooms were adequate and clean, and the breakfast was good enough. View is terrible and you can hear traffic at times -- but if you want to be close to the SF airport and stroll around half moon bay this place does the job.

Convenient and easy to access.

Posted Aug 28, 2014
We spent most of our time out and about in the Half Moon Bay area. The hotel was convenient in terms of easy entry and exit onto a busy Rt 1, was within easy walking distance to a great beach, restaurants, Half Moon Bay shops. The staff was friendly, the coffee always available in the lounge. The beds were firm but comfortable. Nice water pressure. Clean. Despite outdoor entries, I felt secure. We stayed there 6 nights without any problem.

Average hotel in average place.

Posted Aug 27, 2014
Pros: stuff was nice, breakfast, free parking
Cons: make sure you don't leave hair in the bathtub after cleaning. A lot of pillows, they are stone hard, we didn't even use them, save energy, put less.
Location: I didn't like the location, very noisy
It was an OK hotel, way overpriced, average cleaned with hair in the bathtub. Bed and pillows were so hard, I had all over body ache after one night. They have everything you need for your stay; towels, iron, hairdryer and soap, small fridge (very noisy) and TV. Weird design; washstand is in the room next to the microwave, and the hairdryer is located right over the coffeemaker.... well, I wouldn't drink that coffee. They have coffee in the lobby during breakfast time from 6 to 10 am., it's not great but drinkable. The hotel is located right on HW 1, so you wont be able to sleep well, especially with the opened window. Breakfast: Scrambled eggs, some sort of meat (didn't try it), waffle mix ready to make waffles, bagels, orange juice, milk and cereal, tea or coffee, butter, cream cheese, peanut butter, jelly, fruits. Also microwave and toaster. With all said, if you need a good long sleep, it's not a hotel for you, look for something far away from highway. Ocean is in somewhat walking distance, if you love to walk. It took us about 15 min to get there, you can drive and pay ten bucks for parking.

Was expecting something better.

Posted Aug 26, 2014
Pros: It was convenient to downtown shops and other services.
Cons: The rooms are very out dated and need to be over hauled, especially the furnishings.
Location: The location was very good. Shopping, restaurants, and other services are within walking distance. Parking is sufficient and well lighted at night.
I was disappointed in the overall experience of the hotel. I expected a lot more for the amount of money that I was charged. The beds were not very comfortable, and they were only double in size. I was hoping for 2 queen beds, but my room did not have any. There was only 1 trash receptacle and a very small sink area. The room was very dated and needed some remodeling. The bedding was torn in a few places. My daughter and I would not recommend this hotel to family or friends.

Great hotel to get to easily from SFO

Posted Aug 24, 2014
Pros: The bed & the breakfast
Cons: The shower could be a little cleaner
Location: Great for a quick stop near San Francisco
I booked this hotel because it looked easy to get to from San Francisco airport. Having travelled almost 24 hours from Scotland we were keen to just get settled quickly. However, it turned out that this was the hotel we had visited 8 years ago when it was a Best Western. It has the most comfortable, huge beds; staff are lovely and welcoming and it is very easily located. Another bonus was the breakfast - bacon, scrambled eggs, toast, pastries etc, all included. So much better value then a hotel we stayed in last night at Monterey which was twice the price and half the hotel of Coastside Inn.

Ac broken and the room smelled of bo. Carpet was sticky. Shower drained slow/backed up. Good location and breakfast. Only plus.
