Stunning Location

Posted Aug 13, 2014
Pros: The location and the views were amazing. A nice pool. The restaurant food was excellent.
Cons: New beds. Update dining room decor.
Location: On the beautiful Sunshine Coast. Mostly outdoor things to do no doubt depending on time of year.
We stayed only one night mid-week. We were fortunate to be there during wonderful weather. Although the staff said that it is also beautiful when it is windy and rainy. The location is absolutely stunning. We stayed in one of the "log" cabins. It was endearing and tidy enough. The bathroom was very tiny and the water pressure for the shower was lacking but I imagine that is to be expected when in the country. We had a queen bed which was somewhat old and soft but the bedding was nice. There was a flat screen TV but it didn't get used much given the outdoor attractions! A little difficult to find as signage was not obvious from main road. Staff were immediately defensive when you had a query. We noticed this when they spoke to not only us but other guests.

Nice retreat off the beaten path

Posted Jul 5, 2014
Pros: Had a wonderful restaurant to have a special upscale dinner. Nice grounds to move around in.
Cons: If possible, it would be nice to have a mini-fridge in the room as we brought some food with us.
Location: Short driving distance to various hiking trails and to the town of halfmoon bay.
We stayed two nights in the main lodge. Each room has a view of the water. Would have loved to have stayed in one of the cabins or the tent accommodations but they were fully booked.

Great hotel for a quiet get-away

Gorgeous view, clean rooms, tasty fresh food. I had a great stay at this hotel. The only issue I would warn about it is the reception and wifi - the cell reception is very spotty (at times non-existent) and wifi in my room was about the same. I found when I used the wifi in the restaurant next to the lobby I had better luck.

Mediocre

Posted May 12, 2014
We stayed in the lodge. The rooms need updating the carpet is a dated green color and the bathroom has old countertops. The room had a what must have been a 15" flat screen on the wall. I think if I compare it to other hotels I've stayed in, in BC this wouldn't be in the $180 a night category. With all that being said the venue it beautiful and very relaxing. The closest town is 20mins away so expect to be willing to commute or pay 30 a dish for dinner/lunch.

Fabulous secluded location

Amazing staff in a truly beautiful setting. The BEST spa staff and treatments. Delicious breakfasts. We have already raved about everything to many friends. Would totally recommend as a small wedding venue or honeymoon location. Those tent houses are incredible! Would love to add an indoor pool if it were logistically possible. Will be back. Special appreciation to the very pleasant manager from Turkey, Ivan and Sue, and most definitely Laura and the other wonderful esthetitian- Asian lady, has worked there for ten years. Great job everyone. We'll be back! :)

A quaint stop

Pros: Location was great, time dinner with a sunset should be top shelf. The separate cabin made the location feel a bit private.
Cons: They mentioned wifi, but we barely had a bar in the cabin, not a biggie, but you either have it or you don't. Parking is a premium at peak times.
Location: If you like light walk/hikes and a picnic, definitely walk out to Smuggler's Cove or Skookumchuk Rapids. Garden Bay Pub on a Sunday good times.
The view from the hotel is very good! I think in the summer the pool next to the restaurant would be an excellent way to relax. We were competing with a wedding at the location, so space was a premium. The cabin was cozy and a bit cool, quickly warmed up with an adjustment to the thermostat. I am a big fan of power washer shower nozzles, this wasn't, but still very warm. The restaurant meal was quite good and the server very pleasant.
