Good location, not too far from downtown

Posted Nov 18, 2014
Lots of restaurants, park across the street and about a 10 minute walk to pubs and bars.

Nice hotel in a central location.

Posted Nov 8, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Parking is kind of cramped underground. Not good if you are driving a larger vehicle. There is an overflow lot, but it is unpaved and unlit.
Location: Close to many restaurants and shopping on Quinpool Road. Spring Garden and Downtown are within walking distance for most people.
Room was quiet, and had a nice view overlooking the Halifax commons. Beds were comfortable.

All but parking excellent.

Cons: Parking for trucks
Staff, rooms, everything A1. If bringing vehicle though, a half ton will not fit in underground parking, 6ft max. It seems they have no other option except go to hospital and park there, which is a fair distance, not to mention crossing Robie St. walking.. Not good, so bring a car LOL

nice hotel, close to attractions

Posted Oct 21, 2014
Pros: The front-desk staff were very helpful. the view of the Halifax Common from the bar and restaurant was beautiful, very clean and quite quiet.
Cons: parking was expensive--$19 per day, but this seems pretty typical of the hotels and the downtown-waterfront area in Halifax in general.
Location: good location close to downtown and waterfront, right behind the Citadel, easy walking distance to public gardens and Dalhousie University
We had a great stay in Halifax and the hotel was very nice and reasonably priced. The room was very clean and comfortable with all the necessary amenities, staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast is not included in the room rate, and the dining room is not cheap, but there are lots and lots of little places to eat just around the corner, and the dining room at the hotel is apparently an award-winning fine-dining restaurant; we didn't eat there. It is a very short drive (10 minutes or so) to the downtown and waterfront. We drove to the waterfront and then walked around from there but it is certainly do-able to walk to the waterfront from the hotel (about 1/2 hour or so). The Citadel is directly in front of the hotel.

Wonderful hotel!

Location: Close enough to the harbour front for a nice walk. Buses right outside.
Great all round, particularly for the price. The check-in time is 3pm - I went there at 9:30 in the morning, just to leave my luggage, and was allowed to check in then, which was great on a rainy day. Nice little exercise room, and a nice looking pool. Great staff.

Wedding Stay

Posted Oct 16, 2014
Pros: Friendly staff, reasonable rates
Cons: Invest in a better pool area and renovate the rooms, especially the bathrooms.
Location: Central to Halifax, lots to do nearby..good hiking..downtown is walkable, lots of shopping and pubs, etc. within walking distance or a short cab rid
We arrived there for a wedding recently and were pleased with the accommodation. Not really fancy, it's an older hotel, but everything was clean and the staff there were pleasant. This hotel's central to Halifax but not on the water, so if you want the water-view this isn't the hotel for you. Pool and fitness area are dated.

Fine, except for the cleanliness issues

Posted Oct 15, 2014
I had stayed at the Atlantica two or three times in the past, with no issues. This time, however, the bathroom was filled with a previous guest's hairs: in one of the washcloths, and all over the bathtub tile. The worst thing, however, was the following. Thinking that the cleaning staff had passed my room by, I approached a staff member and asked for a replacement glass (in which I had served milk). Much to my horror, they took it into the room they were cleaning at the time and (obviously) somehow washed it in the bathroom sink! I of course did not use the glass again, but this almost certainly means that *this is how they wash their glasses,* which is unacceptable to say the least. In fairness, I did not raise either of these issues with staff or management. And on the plus side, most staff were very friendly and the front desk staff - with smiles and no hesitation - agreed to let me check out 1.5 hours late, free of charge.
