Needs a complete reno.Posted Jul 19, 2014
Cons: Major renovations are necessary.
Location: Close to restaurants and where we wanted to go. We chose it because of the name of Howard Johnson and being on a budget the price.
When we arrived and tried to open the door we had to literally put our shoulder to the door to get it open. The was clean enough but there was a lot of mold in the bathroom. There was even a silverfish in one of the coffee cups. Breakfast on our last day was not at 7 a.m. as advertised. We wanted to get on our way as soon as possible.

Disappointing accommodation!Posted Jul 17, 2014
Cons: The bathroom was in need of renovations. Roof shingles are missing from lower buildings. The hair dryer did not work.
This motel was not at the standard I would normally associate with the Howard Johnson chain. As we were in the room that was the farthest away from the office, I had to go outside the room and around the corner to pick up WiFi reception. Then I could use it in the room.

Budget hotel with kind staff membersPosted Jul 7, 2014
Pros: The room was spacious and clean.
Cons: It would be nice if the room was equipped with fridge.
Location: The downtown Halifax is within 10 minutes drive.
I had something which needed refregeration and they kindly allowed it to stay in their fridge after my check-out.

Easy to find and in between Halifax and DartmouthPosted Jul 4, 2014
Cons: some paint would help on the exterior, carpet in the room we had could use a good shampoo
The best part was the girls , they were very accommodating and helped me get place to place, very friendly and talkative like most downeasteners and as I remembered them back in the 50-60's while serving in the Navy.

10 mins from Downtown HalifaxPosted Jul 1, 2014
Pros: the beautiful white duvet and pillows, one immediately gravitated towards the bed which was also very comfy
Cons: Well, it is an old dated hotel, the main thing that could be improved is the bath as the enamel was badly chipped
Location: We visited downtown Halifax and then drove to Lunenburg and Mahoney Bay which are really worth seeing and about 50mins away, so pleased we saw them
When we arrived I felt the hotel was more like a motel, no staff after 11pm etc and would probably have felt a little nervous if I was there by myself. The room was dated however the first thing that caught my eye was a spotless white duvet and plumped up pillows, the walls were newly painted, the curtains were a good quality, plain material, very clean. The bath had chipped enamel but once again, a modern, white shower curtain detracted from the oldness. The bed was comfy, the water for our baths/ shower in the morning was fine, the dining room had nice modern furniture and the breakfast was adequate, all in all it was good value for the price and the front desk staff were very pleasant. There were plenty of plug points for us to charge our phones etc. We found a nice Thai restaurant close by where we had lobster at a fraction of the cost of elsewhere and a nice glass of wine.

Looks like an abandoned place.Posted Jun 25, 2014
Pros: The bed was ok.
Cons: The hotel is old, need improvement everywhere.
Location: not much, you need a car.
the restaurant was vacant, no service at the counter after 5pm a phone number was given just in case we needed assistance. There's a smell in the bathroom....

Just some place to stay.Posted Jun 21, 2014
Pros: Only the location and ease to move around.
Cons: The rooms need, no, cry out for renovation and upgrading to the new millennium.
Location: The location is great and just about every amenity can be found in very close proximity or 15 minutes away.
The motel was very dated and our room was clean but needed a lot done to it to make it look even inviting. The theme of this motel was old, old, old. Old can be good and pleasing, but this was not. In the mornings you could tell the number of people who where up by how many times your shower water went from boiling hot to freezing cold then back to normal. Not nice at all. The free wifi was non existent and we had to resort to pirate our internet from some unsuspecting soul who didn't have any security on their wifi. The location was great as you could be in Halifax in 10 to 15 minutes(on a weekday) and it seemed all roads led to Bedford, very easy to get around the area. Shopping, restaurants and other amenities were only minutes away and on the street in front of the motel, just great.

Nice place. Price couldn't be beat.Posted May 22, 2014
Staff was friendly and accommodating. Shower pressure could be better and the temperature of the water was very inconsistent.
