“Location, Location, Location!!”
I can't say enough about the hotel! Everyone was very nice and helpful. It didn't matter what you needed, the hotel staff was eager to help. They would make reservations for you to any diner, show, ride to airport. The room was very clean and you get the "old world" feel. This is the second time I've stayed at this hotel and whenever I'm in Halifax there's no question I would stay again. They are centrally located so you can pretty much walk to anywhere you want to go. Room service was fast and believe it or not the food was very good. I will always stay faithfull to the Lord Nelson!!
“A very pleasant experience”
The hotel is located on Spring Garden Road, a vibrant shopping and dining area. It is about a ten minute walk to the Halifax Harbour, which also contains shops and restaurants as well as pleasing scenery. The hotel is across the street from the public park and very near the historic Citadel Hill. The hotel is an old property but has been well maintained and has an old World charm.
“Unexpected luxury”
The hotel has been renovated and done in superb taste. We were upgraded to a junior suite which was beautifully appointed. One of the nicest rooms we have enjoyed and we have done a lot of traveling. Too bad it is so far away from California!
“GREAT hotel-EXCELLENT location”
the lord nelson staff was EXTREMELY courteous, helpful and professional-great location right across the street from the beautiful public gardens and about a mile from the waterfront. the food at the hotel was also very good-and there are several excellent restaurants in the neighborhood-i HIGHLY recommend this hotel
“Excellent hotel choice in Halifax”
The Lord Nelson is an excellent hotel in Halifax. Although a walk from the harbor, it is across the street from the the public garden and a block from the Citadel. Our room (a suite) was spacious and well appointed. We could not have been happier with our choice of hotels in Halifax and would return to the Lord Nelson on our next visit.
“Great Halifax Hotel!”
I stayed at the Lord Nelson and walked to the Conference Center in about 8 minutes. Location is across from the beautiful Public Gardens. Head out the front door, make a left, and you can walk/run down South Park to Pointe Pleasant Park. The hotel is clean, comfortable, and affordable. The bathroom was very nice and looked like it was just remodeled. I don't think I've ever had a more pleasant stay anywhere, including a Ritz Carlton. Nice Hotel!
“Can't wait to go back”
Great place! Comfortabe! Clean! High quality!
“Excellent but tiny room.”
The hotel was fantastic but the room was so tiny that I barely had room to put my suitcases down. I'm not sure two people's luggage would have fit. Beautiful, great location, but I expected a bit more for the price.
“Fit for a lord”
We booked last minute and took a wild guess that the location was central. As it turned out the hotel was on the corner of a very nice road, with a gorgeous park across the street- visible from our room and along another street with many nice restaurants. The room was clean and nice with a small kitchen. We only heard a bit of noise from above. The only criticism I have is that the staff didn't seem to have much knowledge about the various questions we had for them, and the night attendant was a little sour the first night. We did not try the hotel food as there was so much choice along the main road. All in all a good experience.
“Very good experience”
I liked the location - close to pub, restaurants and shops. The hotel staff were very supportive and the room was spacious, clean and comfortable.
