“Fit for a lord”

We booked last minute and took a wild guess that the location was central. As it turned out the hotel was on the corner of a very nice road, with a gorgeous park across the street- visible from our room and along another street with many nice restaurants. The room was clean and nice with a small kitchen. We only heard a bit of noise from above. The only criticism I have is that the staff didn't seem to have much knowledge about the various questions we had for them, and the night attendant was a little sour the first night. We did not try the hotel food as there was so much choice along the main road. All in all a good experience.

took my son to Dal and staying there was very handy - for both simple shopping, exercise and restaurants

“Lots of Character-Good Location”

The Lord Nelson is across the street from wonderful botanical gardens. And an easy walk to the Halifax Harbour. The Hotel has a lot of polished brass and marble. Good value.

“Excellent hotel choice in Halifax”

The Lord Nelson is an excellent hotel in Halifax. Although a walk from the harbor, it is across the street from the the public garden and a block from the Citadel. Our room (a suite) was spacious and well appointed. We could not have been happier with our choice of hotels in Halifax and would return to the Lord Nelson on our next visit.

“Wonderful Stay At Lord Nelson Hotel”

We had a wonderful stay at the Lord Nelson Hotel while visiting Halifax, NS. We travel with our Yellow Lab and the hotel staff was more than accommodating. The location was perfect, right across the street from the Public Gardens (No Dogs Allowed) and about three blocks from several restaraunts and social areas. Our room was huge, but the bathroom was very small. They could have bumped out the bathroom a little more into the room, but the open area does offer larger dogs an area to stretch out. All in all we had a wonderful stay and would recommend this hotel!

“Not new, but maturity in style and ambience”

I was fortunate to find the Lord Nelson as my place to stay in Halifax. The classic hotel style is very inviting and after having been there, the other, newer hotels of Halifax seem very streamlined. Except that the WiFi internet was an additional charge (while other hotels offer this as free service) there is nothing that I would want to change with the Lord Nelson.

“A very pleasant experience”

The hotel is located on Spring Garden Road, a vibrant shopping and dining area. It is about a ten minute walk to the Halifax Harbour, which also contains shops and restaurants as well as pleasing scenery. The hotel is across the street from the public park and very near the historic Citadel Hill. The hotel is an old property but has been well maintained and has an old World charm.

“Unexpected luxury”

The hotel has been renovated and done in superb taste. We were upgraded to a junior suite which was beautifully appointed. One of the nicest rooms we have enjoyed and we have done a lot of traveling. Too bad it is so far away from California!
