A purposeful visit
We had an extended stay to sort family matter and had to navigate the complicated covid rule in different country. The room allocated fitted our purpose, small, basic but clean. They served breakfast for ~7 euro and also dinner for ~14 euro. It is handy for those travelling for business. The staffs were friendly. The wifi connectivity were variable, with the strongest signal ;ocated in the bathroom. 4 G phone signal were intetmittent in the area, with most of the time dropped below 3G. This improved when we travelled out of the area.

Very helpful staff. Good parking. Comfortable bed. Clean. No hot drink making facilities in the bedroom. I would stay at this hotel again.

Hotel in very good position . Good car park. Both the staff on duty were very helpful and went out of their way to give us detailed information regarding our tour plans for the following day. Our room was very clean and tidy but a little small - still good value for the price. Positioned on the France/Belgium border, good position for W W 1 excursions.

This was the second time that we had stayed in the Lys Hotel. It is a very welcoming, friendly hotel - very pleasant staff. The parking is excellent - lots of spaces. Finally, it is very conveniently located - close to Ypres and many other war memorial sites. We would definitely stay here again.

Lovely people, lovely experience
We originally booked due to the location for WW1 sites, value for money and secure parking for the motorbikes. What we didn't expect was how welcome we were made to feel. The family owners were totally lovely and couldn't do enough for us. Would certainly stay there again.

We needed an overnight stop near Ypres
We were looking to spend the Saturday in Ypres before moving on to Spa. The reviews that we read told us that the hotetl was a little dated, but the owners were very friendly, the place was very clean and the car park was secure at night. This was exactly how I found it. The drive into to Ypres in the evening was no problem, the bed was comfortable, the breakfast was excellent. I have no complaints.

Lovely little hotel
The service from the couple that run the hotel was exemplary. Our room was comfortable; the bathroom could perhaps use a shower-over-bath, but it wasn't a big deal. The town is small and there's not much around. In particular, there is a shortage of restaurants, especially those open late, which is worth bearing in mind for those arriving later in the evening. Breakfast was fantastic, and certainly cheaper than many of the other breakfasts offered in comparable hotels throughout Europe.

An ideal stop-over.
Fitted the bill very well for our visit to Ypres. Very friendly, welcoming reception, clean good sized room and superb breakfast were all very much appreciated. Only comment - some tiling around the bath, with a shower curtain would have made a quick shower much easier. A tip - ask for a room at the rear of the hotel for a quieter room, although, being the weekend, we had little problem with street noise. It would be helpful if the small charge for dogs was made clear on the hotel website. 5€ is fine, but it is good to know when booking.

Good Value...close to Ypres
Lys Hotel is an older hotel in the centre of Halluin which is in France, about 20 minutes from Ypres, Belgium. The owners were very helpful and friendly. Lovely breakfast. Rooms need updating.

A very pleasant stay
This hotel is a gem. Rooms were spotlessly clean and breakfast was excellent. Nathalie and Herve the proprietors are a lovely couple, nothing was too much trouble for them. They even gave us some food for our return journey to Calais (there were 13 of us in our party). The bar was listed as 10pm closing, but they will keep it open as long as you wish. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Basic - ok for a one-night crash
Cannot fault check-in - the lady at reception spoke very good English and was very helpful. The rooms are very basic, with only a shower head from the bath taps requiring a sit-down shower unless you flood the bathroom. The hotel is situated on a noisy road, so difficult to sleep with the window open, which is a necessity in summer without any air con. Beds were clean and comfortable. Provide secure (gate-locked) parking. The town of Halluin itself didn't have much to offer, especially with everything being shut on a Sunday night. But we did find a good Mexican restaurant on the ring road.

A good hotel.
A good hotel with good staff. My room was at the rear of the hotel and was quiet. There was no restaurant but this was not a problem as there was an excellent one a few minutes walk away.

Charming find. Elegant decor, great price.
We booked it as part of a road trip to Ypres and other WW! battle sites, as location is a short drive. Pleasantly surprised by the decor and warm hospitality. Backyard garden was lovely. Hosts were friendly. Room was cozy and clean.

Lovely boutique hotel
this is a little gem. Although rooms are small they are spotlessly clean. Hotel staff very friendly and welcoming. Used this as our base to explore and worked well. Close enough to Ypres that you can go to 8pm Menin Gate service and be back in bed by 9pm. We will definitely use again.

Competent budget lodgings
Easy to find, hotel has its own dedicated compound parking, with adequate space on nearby roads (if full). Late night is all controlled by access codes - not 24 hour reception, but pretty much the standard for budget hotels in France nowadays. Room fair sized, TV, plenty of drawers / hanging space. Comfy bed, and plenty warm enough once are blanket deployed. I can see how the D.I.Y. nature of the accommodation might not appeal to everyone, but as a base for travelling to the nearby battlefields, it was ideal for purpose for me. Breakfast was extra on our room tariff, and consisted of a cold buffet (hot beverages), but plenty of it. All in all, its at the better end of the budget accommodation I've stayed at in France.

Quietest Elevator Ever!
Inexpensive and handy to both Lille and Ypres. Good secure parking. Adequate for the price. But room very small especially for tall people. Dormer window you can not see out of sitting down. Hard bed hard chair and no English channel on TV. But then you don't travel to sit in the room. How ever we have been traveling so long and would have liked to have some relaxing down time. This was planned into our trip as the longest stay (5days) to facilitate R&R and catch up on the laundry. But it was a touch too bleak.

We were touring some World War 1 sites just over the border, in and around Ypres. Not being able to get anything in the town itself, we opted to stay at this hotel instead. It was close, and was relatively cheap to other offerings nearer Ypres. We opted to have breakfast included, which was properly a mistake. The breakfast is very basic, and for the money, there are better options down the street. The rooms were large, comfortable and did the job nicely. The showers were very powerful, with good water pressure. The rooms were also nice and clean, good storage, and ultimately very comfortable. Our biggest issue is that, in and around the hotel, there is NOTHING of note. This was fine for the most part, but given you have to drive everywhere, and the hotel bar closes before 10pm, it meant we couldn't venture out for a few drinks before calling it a day. A real shame. Ultimately, the fact that the surround area has no cafes, bars or restaurants open past, what seems liked, 8pm, was a shame. However, that's not the fault of the hotel, and ultimately it was a very comfortable stay, the hosts were great, and it was very good value for money.

VERY RUDE OWNER !! NEVER HAD SUCH BAD SERVICE !!
Terrible hotel - avoid at all costs! When we tried to check in they had lost our booking. They finally found us a room, but they gave us a smoking room which smelled strongly of smoke. We had booked a non-smoking room so I asked to change. The owner then got very angry, accusing us of wanting 2 rooms for the price of one ! He even accused us of using the bed, when we'd only arrived 2 minutes ago!! I have never been treated so rudely in a hotel ANYWHERE. We took our bags and left immediately with him still shouting insults at us. The hotel itself is old and tired and the owner clearly has problems. AVOID !!!

Excellent stopping off point
The hotel was fairly easy to find, on the main road through town. We stayed on route to a wedding in Douai, and wanted to spend time in Ypres on the way. The hotel was in a perfect location, only about 30 mins form Ypres. The proprietor of the hotel was very friendly and helpful, and recommended an Italian restaurant in the town which was absolutely excellent. The room was clean and comfortable, the only downside being that the hotel is on a main road and our room was at the front, so there was quite a lot of traffic noise from the road. Breakfast was excellent, and the check-out was polite and friendly. It was good value for money, I would stay again.

Excellent Lys Hotel
This was our first visit to the hotel and if first impressions really count then this was excellent. Very clean and comfortable. The two gentlemen running the hotel were very welcoming. Our room was very good and breakfast every morning was great and served with a smile. You should certainly try this hotel even though its a car drive into Leper this is no hardship for the service provided.

Hotel Lys ideal for touring Flanders Fields.
The hotel has a 'genteel' quality - situated in Halluin, just 20 mins drive from The Menin Gate memorial in Ypres (Ieper). It was in excellent decorative order and well equpped with very generous accommodation belying its 2 star category. There is a good size carpark at the back of the Hotel. The continental breakfast was very generous and we couldn't help noticing how well the Breakfast room was maintained - dirty corckery was cleared immediately and supplies of coffee juice spreads juices and yoghurt were kept topped up. The bread basket delivered fresh to each table contained a plain bread roll, pain-au-chocolat and croissant for each person. Lovely!
