Lovely hotelPosted Aug 12, 2014
Pros: The lovely bed linen
Cons: The carpets and bathroom
Location: Nice area shopping etc
We stayed in the bull for one night all the staff were helpful and kind. The room was ok a bit on the slanted side but this added to the olde world charm. The linen and bed were very nice and clean. I think the room we had needed updating as the carpets were stained and the bathroom was tiny. All in all the price we paid was good so we did not expect too much. The breakfast was lovely and plenty of it we would stay again one day.

Place in need of tlcPosted May 30, 2014 on Hotels.com
It wasn't the hotels fault that upon arrival at midnight no one was at the desk. Hotels.com need to state or refuse bookings after 11pm. I previously booked a room but then offered it to someone else to then have a change of heart and need a room myself. The only number was via hotels.com so they didn't give warning. We finally got the attention of the manager and he was helpful. In the morning he also couldn't do more to be helpful. We had been warned by the bridal party that their stay the night before wasn't the greatest with slow service with food etc. but I had to see for myself. The beds are the only redeemable part other than the managers helpfulness. The corridor's carpets need cleaning as there is a really bad musty smell that luckily didn't continue to the room. However the bathroom needed a bit of a tidy up, it appeared grubby. I have to admit my partner slept somehow but I couldn't - the morning I had to be up early but I was fit for nothing! The windows faced a busy road that had HGV's plus cars passing through the night with old fashioned single glazing lead windows. Yes it's old with character but I was up all night thinking if they can't afford triple glazing (as that is what it needed) what other ways could they sound proof the room. In the morning it was reported that both rooms had no hot water if using the shower. Room 1 has only a shower room 10 has a bath so to get hot water you had to use the bath. Breakfast has a really good selection - hot & cold. It's cheap and cheerful but I just needs some tlc and some double glazing at least.

A cheap stay over but dirty and oldPosted Apr 27, 2014
Great for a quick stop over but room just felt in loved and dirty. Smell of damp in bathroom and hair in bath! Love to have a bath after a long journey but didn't fancy it! Light bulb in main room faulty.

Comy beds but overall disappointedPosted Mar 21, 2014 on Hotels.com
The best thing about the hotel is the comfort of the beds and the food. Do not have a front facing room as the traffic noise is horrendous and goes on most of the night. The bathroom was something else with black grouting where it was still in place and no hot water in the morning. Staff were welcoming but the overall stay was disappointing. For some reason we expected more!

Good hotel for the price!Posted Feb 18, 2014
Room was clean and had good amenities (spare pillows, tea/coffee, hairdryer, TV, plenty of towels etc.). Small but fine for a short stay. Staff were brilliant, very helpful. Breakfast was very good and plenty on offer. Very good price for what you get.

In need of some TLCPosted Oct 22, 2013
Pros: The bars and restaurant and the building itself. The staff also are very pleasant.
Cons: The rooms certainly need some refurbishment.
Location: Plenty to do within the vicinity with wonderful countryside and historic places.
The Bull Hotel is a pleasant bar/hotel with nice beer/food/wine. The bars are nicely furnished and the building itself is fabulous. The problem comes with the rooms. I found used tissues behind the bed-side tables along with plenty of dust & fluff. The bathroom toilet uses a pumped system which gives off unpleasant smells and there are no heated towel rails but plenty of mould around the bath and floor. The bedding and towels however are good quality and nicely clean.
