“Living in the Medina”
Wonderful staff at this hotel is friendly & helpful. Recommeded without reservation. Part of the Medina Mediterranea, you have a souk, restaurants, street entertainment, casino, discotec, indoor pool (really warm, 2 DT for towel-hire and 1 TD for locker) and a theme park (Carthage Land)on your doorstep! The half board option (payable at the hotel) is great value for money: dinner offers a three course meal, & at least the starter & dessert are buffets. We tried a couple of the Tunisian red wiines & were very impressed. Rooms are very clean & comfortable, with TV channels in all the major Euro languages, two cooking rings, a kettle, toaster & coffee machine besides all the pans & utensils you need to make a light meal. Taxis to or from Tunis for 5 (on the meter) is about 95 TD, but you can haggle for less (off the meter) The hotel arranges transfers at 80 TD each way for up to four people & you pay the hotel. Their currency exchange rate is very competetive. The private beaches are all a short walk away, with more stalls and cafes on the gorgeous promenade. 5 TD buys a return ticket on the Train Touristique (Noddy train) to Hammamet Medina, but it also continues on to Nabeul. Just flag it down when you see/hear it approaching. We went as a family, with three teenaged children, for a long weekend in February. There were a quite few people around, but nothing like in the summer when all the hotels will be packed.
