“Excellent Hotel”

This was an excellent hotel for a quite weekend away from it all. The staff were efficient, the cleanliness throughout the hotel was of a high standard and the food was superb. Would have no worries in recommending this hotel.

“Country House comfort at a good price”

Stayed in a modern room with smart fittings and shiny new bathroom. Full amenities, big screen telly and all the tea-making stuff. Only quibble was the double bed was the smallest one I have ever slept in - very odd as the room wsa plenty big enough for a king-sized bed! Excellent breakfast included, free Sunday papers and quick check out. Hotel is up a long drive and set in full country hosue setting. There was a wedding in the permanent marquee, but we never heard a thing. Top stuff and good value

I was impressed with the kindness and attention given to me by reception staff as I was staying with my disabled husband. Nothing was too much trouble for which I am grateful. My only disappointment was not being able to listen to classical music on the TV; there was no radio 3 or classic FM. I hope this will be resolved for my next visit.

“Pity about the restaurant!”

I had a smoked haddock risotto for starter which was 50% more than I have previously paid for such a dish and contained over-cooked peas ("Cannon ball peas"), a deep fried battered poached egg on top, and was made with normal long grain rice with 2 very small pieces of haddock in it. The main course was slightly better but again was expensive particularly when the price was not reflected in the quality. I was very disappointed because the hotel and rooms are lovely, and the restaurant looks beautiful. The breakfast was better than the evening meal, but not the quality you would expect for such a beautiful hotel. I would highly recommend the hotel for business or pleasure, but would suggest dining elsehwhere.
