Back again

Lovely stay again. Service, comfort all wonderful nothing too much trouble. I noted that the tables outside had bee further away from the bedrooms as I had complained last time about noisy and smoking inconsiderate guests. A nice touch and shows they listen.

Nice hotel in lovely grounds

Posted Sep 8, 2014
Pros: Characterful building, comfy bed, beautiful grounds - we enjoyed early evening drinks outside watching rabbits, grouse and more playing nearby
Cons: Communication about lack of food options. The cocktails weren't particularly good - disappointing when the bar is named 'the cocktail bar'
Location: Nice food in the fur and feathers pub nearby
The hotel was very nice but there was nowhere to eat the evening we stayed as they were hosting a murder mystery evening. Definitely worth checking in advance if you do want to eat there as we weren't told until we asked to book a table a couple of hours before dinner.

A lovely hotel full of history and character

Posted Aug 22, 2014
Superb setting, old style hotel not like the plastic ones these days. Staff friendly and very helpful. Choice of meals fabulous. Free minbus takes you to and back from work as the buses run about once in a blue moon. Expedia came up trumps with my stay as it cost me £100 less than a Premier Inn for same 3 night stay; an absolute steal for such a well run 4 star hotel. I'm staying there for next 2 weeks.

A very nice country house hotel

Posted Jul 11, 2014
Pros: I enjoyed my stay hugely.
Cons: The dinner was nice, but not exceptional. It was in all honesty overpriced. The staff were delightful and the food well-cooked, but too pricey.
Location: Very convenient for Basingstoke and North Hampshire. Lovely countryside, close to Jane Austen country.
A four star country house hotel with good conference facilities. Very friendly staff. Clean and comfortable room and a seriously nice breakfast.

Lovely hotel , well worth a visit

Posted Jul 8, 2014
We booked this hotel to stay for a long weekend with family , what a find ! . The staff were all very helpful, professional and friendly , nothing was to much trouble. The breakfast was always lovely with lots of choice and variety . One night we had our evening meal in the hotel and despite their being some issues with one our main courses , this was quickly rectified and the amount on the bill changed accordingly . The beds were clean and very comfortable with tea and coffee facilities available . We also managed to visit lots of places in the local area and again the staff were helpful and informative Would certainly recommend this hotel to others

Excellent hotel with terrific staff!

Posted Jul 7, 2014
Pros: Service and Staff were terrific!
Location: Very central with easy travel to Stone Henge, Salisbury and Winchester.
Good hotel with a friendly and terrific staff. Good food but when you want something local and authentic the Hotel Staff recommended The Fur and Feather and the Queen Inn. Both Pubs had great food as well as that authentic local experience.

country hotel

Posted Jun 16, 2014
Cons: Evening meals were expensive and poor. Go to Fur & Feather 8 miles up the road
Overall good evening meals very poor. Rest of the hotel was good and the staff were attentive
