Lovely hotel and perfect for anyone wanting a break in the beautiful New Forest. Pool didn’t have any loungers to chill out and it was a bit shabby but wasn’t why we booked the hotel so that was fine. Room was great. Could connect to our Netflix account and the big bed was so comfy! Really lovely helpful staff too

I like the friendly, helpful staff, the ambience, and the location which is quiet but very close to the centre of Lyndhurst. I've now been three times and intend to go again. It would be good if they added a cheaper continental breakfast as well as the full breakfast menu.

In need of basic repair. Very creaky doors and floorboards. It's such an easy fix to have soft close doors! Sauna out of order, I suspect that this has been the case for a very long time. No sleep on the first night due to external noise from doors and pipework.

Excellent stay, with very helpful staff, and a lovely clean and comfortable room. Reception team went above and beyond to help redirect a parcel that was not delivered as expected, for which I am most grateful.

The staff were all lovely. Our bedroom was in need of an upgrade. The bathroom looked tired and our double bed was 2 singles together and ridiculously soft.

I requested a room with a sofa bed I was instead given bunk beds with no explanation as to why or even informed that this would be the case. There was no coffee provided in the room and the tissue box was empty. The room was very basic for the price no more than or indeed less than you would expect from a premier inn. The breakfast was excellent and the staff friendly and happy.

Whilst we will always try and accommodate requests for a sofa bed this is not always possible. I am glad that you enjoyed your breakfast and the service provided by the staff.

Very dirty, mouldy, and vastly overpriced
Booked for two nights in a family room and left after one night unfortunately. Room was very dirty, tired, mould throughout bathroom. Lighting was incredibly suppressive. I question the credibility of the existing reviews on here. Room was advertised and paid for as a family room (2 adults and 2 children) however it was incredibly cramped and there was no room to even place a suitcase on the floor. Luckily ours just managed to fit under the wall mounted bunk bed. Although we booked for 2 adults and 2 children the hotel tried to charge us an additional £30 per night, on top of an already overpriced room. Families- please run a mile

I am sorry that you found the room to be small for your family, we do have different sized rooms and some of them are larger than the one you stayed in, capable of accommodating up to 5 people. We always recommend contacting our reservations team to discuss your requirements to help you book a room suitable for your needs. I am sorry that you found the room the be dirty and not cleaned to the standard you would expect. We have recently had some new team members join our housekeeping team and will continue to work with them to ensure this improves.

The hotel is in a convenient location, within easy walking distance to the village centre. Excellent pool (but the changing rooms could have been checked a bit more often, as the shampoo/body wash dispenser was empty, and there were some tissues on the floor). Very friendly and helpful staff. Liked the option of asking for fresh milk for our room. Good breakfast, with an excellent continental buffet available and hot meal options cooked to order.

Beautiful hotel with incredible views. Staff were lovely and friendly. Free use of the swimming pool and games provided. Would definitely recommend and will be staying again.

Booked the hotel on the strength of the pool which was out of use for the duration. The four poster bed was great but the room was small and had no fridge facilities. The staff were very friendly, apologising for the lack of pool. The breakfast took far too long, (perhaps a buffet style hot breakfast would be more appropriate.) The sink was in need of repair.(infection control)

Very pleasant, and peaceful. Could do with a little tlc to the public flooring areas and a few more staff on hand to help those who seem to be having to multi-task across all areas, and to alleviate queuing at busy check-in/check-out times …but all very pleasant.

Lovely place to stay.
Lovely hotel. Great pool and the front desk staff were very friendly and accommodating. We got the 5 of us in the room and still lots of space. Was very warm though and no air-conditioning. But we all slept well. Restaurant was a bit expensive but Lyndhurst centre was just a short walk to a wider range of restaurants and cafes.

A refreshing change
What a refreshing change. Wonderful, helpful, welcoming staff. It was such a pleasure to stay here and we would definitely go back! Some more lighting out on the patio would be good but just a small Observation, it didn’t impact our stay.

Would definitely stay again.
When we had a problem with check in the receptionist couldn't have been more helpful in solving the issue quickly and efficiently. The pool is a great bonus - a good size for lane swimming but also shallow enough at one end for young children. Cooked breakfast and dinner were to a very high standard although service was a little slow at dinner. The room was large and the bed very comfortable, and there was loads of hot water for baths and showers.

Unfortunately, another property of this company in dire need of upgrade / tlc. Extensive peeling paint in bathrooms, worn carpeting. Door locks that failed every day (magnetic cards). Modernizing and general maintenance/ upkeep recommended. Comfortable rooms though and nice pool. Didn’t make up for the overall experience. They could do so much more at their properties if they tried. And no flexibility on check in - despite room being ready, there wasn’t the staff to check them. So rigid 3pm check in regardless. A negative in customer service. Will look elsewhere, smaller boutique hotels on my next visit.

We stayed for a one night family break and was warmly welcomed by reception. We had received a call a few days before arrival confirming our booking and to enquire what time we would like breakfast as they were very busy. The room was OK. A little dated and some TLC needed particularly in the bathroom. We booked a four poster, but was not given one sadly, The bed was comfy and the room generally clean with the exception of some food under the bed and mould behind the bath taps. The biggest disappointment was the food. We were told the restaurant was busy which we found encouraging so booked upon arrival. We couldn't book for the time we wanted so headed down a little earlier to find only two tables occupied and then for the entire night only one other table arrived......the food was disappointing. The skewers were small, lacking in flavour and extremely overpriced. The options were not great and in hindsight I would have ventured out to a local establishment and sampled their food instead...quite a few around (so we found out the next day). Breakfast felt overpriced at £12.95 per adult and although every cereal you could think of was available there was little choice of much else. Again the restaurant was virtually empty so did wonder why they felt the need to call... This being said, we had a nice family break. The pool was nice (a bit cold) and the sauna out of order, but the surrounding area really helped and the horses on the other side of the road were fab

The Forest Lodge was a great place to stay in New Forest. The facilities could do with a bit of freshening up and I mean mostly the rooms where some furniture or door frames or walls were a bit damaged. Apart from that the staff was great and the overall experience was really good. Would go back again.

One night stay in executive suite. Friendly staff. Bed comfy, dated bathroom needing some decorating, pool a bit chilly for our liking, breakfast wasn’t included so quite pricey overall, no free range eggs but there was an alternative vegetarian option, good location for Beauleau visit and easy parking. Nice pub next door for dinner.

Hotel was good, although the ladder to the bunk bed was loose and the kids were somewhat nervous about it, and the extractor fan did not work in the shower. Breakfast was lovely, but our main meal however was poor. With the dinner not matching the description on the menu and generally not of good enough standard for the price.

Dear Sung Jin,Thank you for you feedback regarding the bed. We do our best to use mattresses that will suit the majority of people and do replace them on a regular basis. I will of course look into the bed you used and take action to make sure it meets our normal high standard.

Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service, property conditions & facilities
Staff very friendly, welcoming and helpful, but there is a lot that needs improvement at Forest Lodge. I responded to the check in email by phone, the receptionist asked for our breakfast time preference. On arrival at the hotel we still had to wait in a queue and give all our details. I was asked about breakfast booking and dinner which I had already done. On the booking form I asked for two extra pillows, these weren’t supplied. The room was nice but the bathroom was in need of a makeover, tired and tatty, the water took ages to drain from the sink, loose toilet roll holder, corroded toilet flush handle, grotty white nylon shower curtain. The phone was dirty and needed a good clean with antibacterial wipes, also I couldn’t ring down to reception and had to unplug the phone at 3am as it was beeping incessantly even though the receiver was firmly on the hook. Went down to breakfast at our 9.30am booking, we were left waiting for five minutes, the couple in front of us were finally shown to a table but we were ignored. Another few minutes later we were told that there wasn’t a table for us yet, I said that we had booked for 9.30am this is unacceptable in a four star hotel, I have never encountered this before. We were asked to wait in the bar area for a further five minutes. Pointless to have time slots if they overbook. No bottled water to buy for going out. Bar poorly stocked, whisky served in a cheap thick glass, stingy vegetarian breakfast, won’t go back.

GOOD AND BAD
Stayed here for four nights, disappointed with our room, it was classed as a snug, they weren't kidding you couldn't swing a cat in the bathroom. Also we had no hot water despite complaining about it. We ended up having a hot shower in the dressing room by the swimming pool. The first night we was there we had an evening meal in the dining room, service and food was excellent. We had breakfast in the hotel every morning again the food was excellent the service was 2nd to none. It's a pity they couldn't get their hot water sorted out. I'm not sure if I would ever recommend this hotel to anybody.

Fortunately, we do not measure our bathrooms by swinging cats but do have an amazing team that could have assisted when booking to find the perfect space for you had you booked directly with us. It can be difficult when booking through a third party to find and know exactly what you want to book. We are also sorry that your shower didn't seem hot enough - we do have a maintenance team that would have been happy to come and have a look and if there was no solution, we would have been happy to offer you an alternative room.
