Cons: Details of how to find it and distance from centre.
Location: Winchester and the start of ST Swithun's Way.
A pleasure to stay in this small professionally run hotel. Considerate staff and very good food: relax and enjoy!

Close to army training campPosted Sep 8, 2013
Pros: I liked the position to where I needed to be
Cons: It could do with a facelift looks very tired and scruffy nothing like the picture on the Internet
Great position for the army training camp. I was in room 8 and the bed was very rolling so didn't sleep well at all. Noise from the road didn't help either. Breakfast was just ok. This hotel was just ok it could do with a good facelift and too expensive

Wedding in WinchesterPosted Sep 8, 2013
Does the job if you have a wedding in Winchester. Reasonable accomodation, but breakfast finishes early. A taxi ride from Winchester centre will set you back £10. Quiet place, reasonable staff.

The room was fabulous, the rest was somewhashabby.Posted Jul 8, 2013
Pros: Room 14 is the one to get - large, well appointed, and at rear overlooking garden
Cons: The dining room did not look inviting and the garden was sparse. Also, please tidy u the entrance way.
Location: A little out of town, but not a problem. Easy to find using sat nav.
Our first impressions on entering the park, and Ewing the entrance way to the foyer etc was a bit depressing. However, once inside her room I must say how delighted were. The room was very large, comfortable, and well appointed, although I did have trouble locating a power socket to use to charge phones etc. We did knot stay for dinner as there was much happening in town and we decided to dine out. However, the breakfast was truly a 5 star affair, and the lovely lady that waited table was warm friendly , and nothing was too much trouble. Unfortunately all the furniture in the room was located to the outside, and so the dining room did look a bit bare and austere. Over all, the room was fabulous, but the rest of the hotel, interior and gardens etc were somewhat rundown.

Disappointing experience. Not worthy of the price.Posted Jul 1, 2013
Pros: The receptionist was very apologetic and the waiter was friendly.
Cons: The room was not ready so I felt I was placed into the 'next best room'.
Location: The hotel is far from the station and this was not stated on the Expedia website
I arrived late due to a late booking. My previous hotel booking had to be cancelled as they bookekd me in on the wrong day. I subsequently managed to get a booking with Harestock Lodge Hotel. When I arrived the receptionist was very pleasant but seemed to be in a flap. The manager was no where to be seen. I was taken up to room 16 only to find clothes on the bed and shoes on the floor. The receptionist apologised but this was not her fault. This was shocking to say the least. Again she tried to reach the manager to no avail. I was then taken to room no 2 on the ground floor. The room appeared to be neat and tidy but the bathroom smelt and was unpleasant. I think this was because it was a wet room and had not been cleaned sufficiently. Maybe the shower curtains could have been cleaned.

Perfect For My NeedsPosted Jul 1, 2013 on Hotels.com
Needed to stay local to Royal Winchester Golf Course this was just perfect. Staff and service were good and the breakfast cooked to order was excellent.

Satisfactory - if you have a car.Posted Jun 9, 2013 on Hotels.com
I booked this hotel principally because it was described as "close" to the cathedral. I guess it depends on the definition of "close". I did not find it to be so. Without a car, one must depend on taxis (a bit expensive over a period, a one-way trip was over 8GBP) or buses whose frequency is not bad but hourly on Sundays and bank holidays, the last service leaving the city centre at 5.20pm). The hotel staff was friendly, both Spanish-speaking so I could practise my Spanish! The room was adequate, the bed comfortable but there were a few plumbing problems in the bathroom. The breakfast was satisfactory, not as varied as in other places where I have stayed. But there was sufficient to eat and one could order extra if desired. The long weekend I stayed, the hotel seemed almost empty, or, at least, that's the impression I got. The hotel is located on the fringes of Winchester, so would be good for anybody desiring a very quiet and almost secluded Iocation. I would probably not book it again as my needs include being almost in the centre of the city.

Curates EggPosted Dec 10, 2012
Pros: The Food
Cons: The general attention to detail.
Location: A fifteen minute bus ride from town centre. Dont try and park in Winchester
I am happier staying in a Premier Inn for half the price. The owners and staff are charming, but since there appeared to be four in total a lot of basic detail gets overlooked. Our room was large but needed decorating. The shower was a domestic electric unit. Not enough shelf space to keep toiletries on.General standards as we used to see in the 70's. Not good enough for the 21st century and certainly not value at £105 per night. However, the dinner and breakfast served in the 65 restaurant was excellant. We heard that the chef was a good butcher so four of us ordered the sirloin steak and lamb.Very good indeed. The full English breakfast was one of the best ihave ever had.

Nice stay and would stay againPosted Oct 30, 2012 on Hotels.com
Check-in was 2.00pm but they managed to check me in earlier which was great. The staff were friendly and helpful. They provided free wi-fi in the room and I found the room to be clean and tidy. I needed to work and the desk was just right for the laptop.
