Hotel overlooking the garden

Posted Oct 13, 2014
Only an overnight stay but we enjoyed it. Room is clean and big but was a bit cold. Heater wasn't working that day tho. I enjoyed the breakfast as there's variety of selections available. Price is affordable. Hence, would definitely recommend the place.

Poor condition

Posted Sep 14, 2014 on Hotels.com
The hotel's standards do not match to "HILTON'. The room was not like any other hilton branch. I should have booked a premier inn or travel lodge. Toilet seat and flush was broken. I made a complaint and was told that they can not change the room and they fixed it temporary and my family had to call them 4 times during the night to keep fixing it.Probably it is the only hotel around so there were loads of customers and hotel was not able to bear the enough numbers. Breakfast was included but they ran out of everything and half of the containers were empty. On repeated requests nothing came out of kitchen. I made a complaint at reception and asked to let me speak to manager. No body was available and I was promised that I will receive a call back and email too but its been 7 days and I have not heard anything. In summary very bad condition of the hotel with extremely bad service. Definitely not recommended.

Dear Guest, Thank you for posting a review on this website. Hilton Basingstoke is a provincial hotel, however our service standards should be to Hilton Brand standards and I do apologise for our shortcomings on this occasion. My Maintenance Manager also wishes to be associated with my apologies for the maintenance issues with the toilet flush which clearly were unacceptable. Although there was a coach party in the hotel, there should have been replacement dishes put out on a regular basis and my Food Beverage Manager will address and action this matter to ensure there will be no recurrence for the future. I reiterate my apologies and I do hope that you will give us the opportunity to welcome you back at some point in the future, when I am sure we can restore your faith in our hotel. Clean and comfortable, just feels a little dated

Posted Aug 26, 2014
Pros: Staff very helpful and friendly
Cons: Soundproofing between floors
Location: Easy access to Basingstoke and M3
Room clean and comfortable, just feels a little 'dated'. Didn't try the restaurant or any other facilities, so can't comment on those. Staff very friendly and helpful. Only 'negative' was the lack of soundproofing between floors - could hear a lot of the movement upstairs, and the noise of children running/stomping along the corridor. Even so, got a good nights sleep, so it achieved its purpose.

Good stopover hotel

Posted Aug 26, 2014
Pros: Location, comfort and waiting staff
Cons: Decoration is tired, needs refreshed in corridors abut specifically the rooms.
Location: Visited Carfest South only 20 mins away by car but offered the comforts of home instead of a tent. Good food, plenty of parking and clean tidy rooms.
Pleasant decor, a bit tired, but clean and tidy with excellent waiting staff. Rooms cleans tidy, perhaps need to air the room if not used ian few days, no air con but fan provided which helped.

I can't believe Hilton owns this property.

Posted Aug 23, 2014
This may be the worst hotel in which I have ever stayed. The room, which was dark and musty, seemed as though it had not been occupied in years. The decor certainly had not been updated in decades. There was only a small fan to circulate air around the room. The bed was hard as a rock. The only positive thing I can say about this hotel is that the bathroom was clean. This hotel is a stain on Hilton's reputation.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your feedback, which is appreciated. I am sorry that you were disappointed with your stay. The hotel public areas were refurbished 6 years ago together with 55 bedrooms.Others are on a rolling refurbishment programme that is ongoing, however they have been refurbished within the last 10 years. The hotel does not have air conditioning, however in the extremely high temperatures recently experienced, we can only supply electric fans and it has been difficult to achieve an optimum ambient temperature. Hardness /softness of beds are a personal preference and hotel beds are of necessity usually to a firmer contract quality, however we note tyour comments. Thank you once again for your very valued feedback as it is in this way that we can continue to improve our customer service standards. Stergos Karasavvas, Hotel Manager

dated and poor quality - not at Hilton standard

Posted Aug 18, 2014 on Hotels.com
We stayed here for three nights over two stays whilst visiting the area. We were disappointed with the quality of the rooms in the hotel, which were old, tired and dated. The beds were very uncomfortable (to the point of being unable to sleep) and a loud desk fan was provided in lieu of any air conditioning. The bathrooms were generally clean although very tired with cracked tiles and a lack of investment or upkeep. The rooms had tea and coffee facilities however no safe or mini-bar/ fridge. The linens were clearly old with numerous holes in. The windows did not lock properly meaning anyone could potentially get in. Overall we were not satisfied this hotel represented the quality expected from the Hilton brand given the price of the stay, in the future we will stay at the local budget hotels which offer better value for money and better quality accommodation. Staff were pleasant and helpful.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your review and your comments are noted. Some of our bedrooms are on a rolling refurbishment programme which is ongoing. Beds are a personal preference and hotel beds are usually to a firm contract standard insterad of the softer somestic type. The hotel does not have air conditioning and we can only supply electric fans to assist with cooling bedrooms. However during the extremely hot and prolonged spell of weather recently experienced it is difficult to achieve an optimum ambient temperature. As a provincial Hilton hotel we do not have safe, mini-bars or fridges as a brand standard. My Maintenance Manager will check the window lock to ensure the security of the room. I am pleased to learn that you found my staff were pleasant and helpful and thank you for this positive feedback. I do hope that we can welcome you back at some point in the future, when I am sure we can restore your faith in Hilton. Stergos Karasavvas, Hotel Manager
