Hilton Southampton

Posted Sep 30, 2014
Pros: Very helpful and friendly staff. Everything was dealt with very efficiently.
Cons: Gym could have more equipment. There was only one weight machine plus dumbbells although there were several treadmill / cycles.
Location: Good location on outskirts of Southamption - but still only 20 mins from city centre. Very handy for airport and travelling to local towns.
Stayed at Southampton Hilton for a week while setting our son up at University.

Getting faded, dreadful car park, cheerful staff

Posted Sep 8, 2014
Pros: Staff, retaurant
Cons: Carpark size or keep non guests out of it. Aircon. Redecorate. Satnav directions.
Location: Its not near anywhere really.
I have stayed here before and over time the decor is getting old fashioned and faded-it needs a revamp. The car park has been choc a bloc every time I've been here, it is just not big enough-or people other than guests are using it. There is no air con. The desk staff and restaurant staff are all cheerful and helpful and seem well trained. Finding the hotel is a nightmare if you haven't been before. Garmin thinks it is possible to just go up a bank on the motorway to get in, and can't find it from the town. Hilton need to get the satnav directions sorted.

Good hotel, not far from cruise terminals.

Posted Aug 15, 2014
We have stayed in The Hilton a few times before a cruise. Can leave the car at the hotel while you cruise. Get a taxi the short trip to cruise terminal. Friendly staff at reception and in bar area. Plenty of choice for breakfast. Only negative comment is there is no air con in hotel, the corridors and bedrooms were very hot on the night we stayed. Did have a fan in the bedroom but didn't make a huge difference.

Not what you'd expect from a Hilton!

Posted Aug 6, 2014
Pros: The staff were fantastic and they are great with the children.
Cons: The facilities in general, the pool, the maintenance in the bathrooms and the service in the restaurant.
Location: We stayed there so we could go to Paulton's Park which has Peppa Pig World within it and this was fab!
The staff were wonderful but the food service was slow, the rooms were not air conditioned and our taps in the bathroom were not functional which was a bit of a problem!! The pool was very small for a large hotel and the rooms were unbearably hot! The staff were very very helpful though and after the first night's disaster in the restaurant (over an hour to wait for our food) we decided to eat in the bar the next night and this was much more of a success.

Secluded hideaway

Posted Aug 5, 2014
Pros: Secluded, out of the way
Cons: Not sure
Location: You have to have a car, only thing nearby is a shell petrol station
Set back from the motorway, blink and you will miss it. There was a wedding party when we arrived so the entrance was a bit untidy with glasses left on walls etc. Hotel staff were pleasant and hotel was in good repair, we didn't get enough time to explore the swimming and leisure area. The breakfast was very good although the hot food disappeared quickly it was regularly topped up, fruit was brilliant and the pastries were excellent. Would I stay here again, sure. Would I recommend this hotel, of course.

Hotel convenient to airport and cruise port.

Posted Aug 1, 2014
We stayed at this hotel overnight so we would not be late for our cruise to New York. The hotel was comfortable and well appointed and staff pleassant for the price we paid. Would stay there again without a doubt.

Old run down

Posted Jul 29, 2014
Pros: N/A
Cons: Massive refit
Location: Lots of motorway
The worst Hilton I have ever stayed in. Old and run down. There was no AC in the hotel or the rooms, we where on the 5 floor and as we all know heat rises . It must have been 20 - 25 .c all night plus the windows are locked so can't open them. Should have stayed at a prem inn.
