“Isolated but relatively comfortable”
My wife and I were on our way to New York and had to catch a ship in Southampton. This hotel was reasonably priced using Expedia. The room was fine, but a little noisey with the window open to keep us cool since there was no AC. We were there for 3 nights and wanted to explore the neighborhood. This was virtually impossible unless you hired an expensive cabbie. The hotel is very isolated unless you have a car - which we didn't. We wound up walking a mile or so to a bus stop and found a small suburb or village called Shirley - which was great.
“Good Stay Close to Road”
We found this hotel a good fit for our day trips to Portsmouth and Winchester. It was easy to get on and off roads. Great breakfast and good nightly refreshments with snacks for purchase. Clean rooms. Most of staff was very pleasant.
“Not Impressed”
We were told our room would have two beds, but what they meant by this is one was a fold out sofa. However, the sofa itself was made out of some sort of cardboard box with a very thin mattress on it. When we "pulled" it out, it had an incline so I had to sleep at an incline the whole night. In our second room, the sofa was an actual pull out sofa, but still not very comfortable. The room was very small. We had called ahead and asked if we could get a roll away bed in the room and the hotel said we could. However, when we asked for one checking in, they kept saying we didn't need one because there was a pull out sofa, which was actually the second bed. Even if they had given us a roll away bed there would have been no place for it in the room. The location of this hotel is good if you are driving because it is only a few minutes of a motorway. However, if you are not driving around, it is not very close to anything else.
