Weekend spa breakPosted Oct 20, 2014
The facility is excellent as are the rooms. Unfortunately the service in the Steakhouse restaurant for both dinner and breakfast was appalling - slow, forgetful and complete lacking any etiquette when serving wine. Such a shame for such an expensive experience and good brand.

Beautiful HousePosted Aug 26, 2014
Pros: Bedrooms, grounds, good wifi, choice of restaurants, near to town, pleasant staff, cleanliness
Cons: Breakfast needs to be speeded up for those not requiring help yourself cereals, etc. management appear to be addressing this with more staff training
Location: Hotel is set in lovely grounds with access to coastline. Paultons Park and Beaulieu Museum are not too far and of course the New Forest.
This was a bit of a flying visit as we were catching up with friends for dinner in Lymington, so cannot comment on dinner, pools and other leisure facilities. The main house is beautiful and probably were wedding and business functions take place. Reception is in the main house. Our room wasn't ready so we waited in a lovely lounge overlooking the extensive gardens. WiFi can be accessed through The Cloud. We were upgraded to an Executive room, which I give 10/10. The bedrooms are situated within the grounds of the main house, which is fine in good weather as there is no covered walkway. There is fine dining restaurant in the main house and a more informal 'Club House' type building in the grounds, which is open from about 7 am to 10 pm and caters for breakfast, lunch and dinner and has a bar... Breakfast was a good standard but as previously mentioned a little slow and I admit I did smile at the 1/2 mushroom on my plate.....I may not have been smiling if I had to pay extra for breakfast at £15.50 each. Buffet breakfast would have been preferable but I fear long queues would form quite quickly and disrupt the quiet atmosphere of the room plus they tend to generate a lot waste, due to guests taking far more food than they can possibly eat! There was indeed a manager on duty who was training staff and making sure customers were happy, which goes to show that some General Managers do take heed of feedback......Well done

Nice hotel but expensive £70 for breakfast for 2 adults and two children is to much I could get a three course meal for that.

A very pretty hotel.Posted Jul 29, 2014
Cons: AC or Fans in bedrooms. slightly warmer pool temp.
Location: The location of the hotel isn't great. for us the hotel was on the wrong side of the river and too far to walk with young children.
We stayed in a family suite for a weekend. We arrived late after spending the day along the coast. The entrance to the hotel is very pretty and we found the check in was quick and the staff friendly and helpful. Our room for the evening was one in the top of the chalets that make a small quad behind the main hotel building which seems to house the restaurants. the day had been particularly hot and we found the room very hot which made for a very restless night. For the price band of the room I would have expected AC. Other than that the room was comfortable and clean. The children's bunk bed is for small children with the top bunk having deep safety rails. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast with a good selection of hot and cold food on offer. With a choice of pools we opted for the indoor pool but found it rather cold but changing areas were clean and showers nice and hot.

Great location, could be so much better...Posted Jul 28, 2014
Pros: Location, relaxed atmosphere and good pools.
Location: Lymington is beautiful, the hotel is next door to the Isle of Wight Ferry. New Forrest and Hampshire a beautiful, if somewhat congested, part of the c
Brief stay whilst visiting friends. This time we had a family room - bunk beds were very small, even for an 8 year old. Outdoor pool was fun - after a long journey this was most welcome. Outside bar very convenient. Although we had to wait for towels to become available. We ate at the informal restaurant. This was great and the waiter couldn't have been nicer. We ate outside. Food and service was excellent. Rooms were fine - a bit tired and the whole place feels tired. It's a mixture of guests and owners and this creates a confusing atmosphere at times. This was our second time at the hotel and breakfast is as bad as I remember. Lots of problems replenishing food and drinks. You have to buy vouchers (£15.00 is way too much!). Service again generally very good, spoilt by some irritable older waiting staff - the same last time... Staying at the hotel was very expensive and I guess poor overall value. Location is great and grounds are impressive and it' a relaxed atmosphere. Some of the staff outstanding, some very bad. We chose the hotel purely for location and because Balmer Lawn Hotel was fully booked!!

Disappointing AccommodationPosted Jul 7, 2014 on Hotels.com
The bedroom had been advertised as an Executive Room, although, it felt more like a holiday park than a hotel. The room decor was tired, and lacked an air conditioning unit.

Great location within a stone's throw of LymingtonPosted Jun 26, 2014
Pros: All of it.
Cons: Our 16 year old had a bit of a problem in the 5' bunk bed. (though the room would actually take a bed nearer 5'6")
Location: Hard to beat
We were really pleasantly surprised when we turned into the impressive driveway. Very nice all round.
