Location location location but terrible shower!Posted Sep 3, 2013 on Hotels.com
A beautiful place to stay - amazing peaceful location - staff very friendly and helpful. Food very nice. Unfortunately like many period UK hotels it needs some money spent to update particularly the bathrooms. Our room was upstairs and the shower was really a tiny trickle (and I am really not that fussy normally) - potentially due to timing of water pressure and other people showering at the same time. Because of its location it will always get guests and hence there is probably no burning need to spend money on the bathrooms. But I would stay there again because the of the location mainly.

dissapointedPosted Aug 3, 2013 on Hotels.com
The quality of the hotel did not match its location or pricing. The staff were mostly friendly and helpful. Our room was not good with obscure glazing and no outlook save over a flat roof covered in skylights and kitchen type ventilators. The food was very average and overpriced. The whole thing felt quite downmarket and we would not recommend this hotel.

Nice hotel and staff, small out dated roomPosted Apr 4, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel, pub, restaurant, and overall location were fabulous. The staff were friendly. The room was small and outdated like most British hotels I've stayed in. There are no 24 hour services which can be a bit of a problem as there are no near by 24/7 services (i.e. milk we forgot for a sick and upset toddler). There was an emergency number but no one answered it.

Beautiful LocationPosted Mar 20, 2013 on Hotels.com
We stayed two nights at the Master Builders. We were upgraded to the 'cottage' which was beatifully furnished and a real delight. The hotel staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. The hotel is fanastically located in the heart of the New Forest and right on the waters edge. I would recomend this hotel.

Pros: The friendly and caring staff and the superb location.
Cons: Limited menu in the hotel restaurant. No chicken dishes.
Wonderful location and the hotel was true to their word about being dog friendly. The staff were excellent and couldn't do enough to make our stay special. I have already booked to go back for a longer stay later this month.

Would recommend!Posted Aug 3, 2012
Pros: The size of the bed and room facilaties.
Cons: Resturant was abit expensive.
Location: Great location if you like walking, town is a 2 mile wood walk. Peaceful on the river.
Great stay! Was pleasently surprised to find a super kingsize bed when I had booked a double. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Down side to our stay was the shower in the morning. Usual situation when everyone starts to use the shower I had not more than a dribble. When the shower did work it was lovely.

Pros: location, old world ambience but all modern comforts. Top class dinner and breakfast
Location: Riverside on edge of New Forest, quiet but still easy to get to.
We had stayed here many years ago, found the ambience and riverside surroundings were just as pleasant as then, staff all very pleasant, friendly and efficient, dinner superb. We shall be back.
