Perfect hotel for couplesPosted Oct 19, 2013
Our stay was for just one night and I only wish it could have been longer. The room was a standard courtyard room (the courtyard setting added a very nice touch and made it seem you were in your own country apartment) which was a good size, light and airy. The bed was King-sized and was extremely comfortable. The bathroom was also a good size with a great shower and underfloor heating. The hotel grounds are sizeable and we enjoyed a romantic morning walk after breakfast.

A major disappointmentPosted Aug 26, 2013 on Hotels.com
If you're looking for an idyllic country manor getaway you'll be very disappointed. The facilities are very sparse with minimal ambiance despite the countryside setting. Food was sub-par, at least judging by breakfast which was very greasy and inedible. I made the call to skip dinner the night before and was glad I did finding an excellent Indian in nearby Overton - the Redfort Tandoori. Oakley Hall might be ok, albeit over-priced, as a business stopover, except for the fact that the WiFi signal drops regularly, rendering it useless for video or voice conferencing applications. I've re-read the previous rave reviews and can't figure them out given my own observations.

Perfect Place to Stay!Posted Aug 25, 2013 on Hotels.com
We were on our way to CarFest South and stayed overnight here. The Courtyard Room was just delightful - perfectly decorated, perfectly appointed, and perfectly located! Everything was just a joy - the bed was excellent, the bathroom too - so confortable and very, very well presented. The only beef was with Room Service at breakfast time. We only wanted 'toast for two', as the hotel provided tea, coffee, with fresh milk in the fridge (unheard of!)! But for two people, we were present with just two slices of toast - one each! Two napkins, two knives, butter, spread, three choices of jam, Nutella, oh, all sorts, but just one slice of toast each to enjoy these delights!!!! Apart from this, our experience was just EXCELLENT!

Great quiet hotel.Posted Aug 15, 2013
Cons: A bit corporate
Altogether a very nice experience, and Alleluhah! NO PIPED MUSIC. Is this the only hotel left which has the courage to ban this hideous import from American Corporate Hotels? Congratulations. I'll be back.

Fantastic hotelPosted Aug 4, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel, rooms and facilities were fantastic but the service poor. My room key did not work and after half Ab hour of waiting for the staff and call after call they finally arrived. As I was in an exec room I expected better. I would have gone to reception but it was pouring rain! All in all though fantastic!

Country house hotel in beautiful surroundingsPosted May 19, 2013
Pros: The hotel setting, individuality, tranquility and space
Cons: Meal prices; no marmalade for breakfast!
Location: In the countryside within easy reach of Basingstoke.
As a female business traveller this was a good choice. Spacious, comfortable, well equipped rooms and quiet lounges meant it was possible to work in the evening in comfort. The main building and courtyard rooms are set in beautiful surroundings. All staff were very friendly and helpful. I felt the restaurant menu was overpriced for most business travellers and the bar meals although well cooked were uninspiring and the majority involved chips! I would not have had breakfast at £22.50 if it hadn't been included as I have encountered very similar choices at 4* hotels at a fraction of the price. Potential guests need to be aware that the rooms are set away from the main building meaning a walk outside to the bar/restaurant etc. (Umbrellas are provided!) I would have liked to see Fair trade beverages in the rooms. I would stay again but would look for 'offers' as apart from the beautiful setting I have had similar hotel experiences at lower prices.

A real gem!Posted May 19, 2013 on Hotels.com
The quality of this hotel and its service is very good. The room in the Courtyard was a good size and spotlessly clean. Although the hotel is a littl eoff the main route, it is well worth taking the small detour to stay at this gem of a hotel.
