4 night break to The New ForestPosted Jun 11, 2015
Pros: The outside.
Location: Beautiful location in the New Forest surrounded by some magnificent trees. Approx 3 miles out of Brockenhurst. Good choice of eating places and shops.
We were spending 5 days in the New Forest and anticipated that Rhinefield House was probably the best hotel in the Brockenhurst area. First impressions were very good: the hotel has a wonderful drive lined with beautiful rhododendrons and magnificent trees. There is a large carp pond and fountains and afternoon tea can be taken outside around the pond. The interior of the hotel is smart, clean and comfortable. Our Classic room was pretty much as expected - not much of a view - pretty standard in fact rather than exceptional. We had breakfast in our room and the room service was perfectly punctual and the food delicious. We had a problem obtaining internet connection. The hotel guide in the room says quite clearly that connection in the room was by wire only. I had problems and was referred to the tech guys who are in fact speaking from the USA. The distance between the telephone & where the ethernet cable plugs in was too far to follow instructions but a man on reception was kind enough to sort my problem instead. The book needs updating as there is wi-fi in the room. Our room smelled of drains but we didn't want to make a fuss. I am confident that had we mentioned it, it could have been cured so we mentioned it on leaving to be helpful for the next guests. The room maid must have noticed it and should have reported the problem but after 4 nights, she hadn't reported it. Overall I would say our stay was fine.

Pros: The location
Cons: Standard of food (breakfast was very slow to be served and was cold!). Staff were not customer orientated and a course on customer service is needed!
Lovely location but not a 4* hotel! This did not have a the feel of a relaxing environment unfortunately, because it is situated in such a lovely part of the world.

A trip to the New ForestPosted Apr 17, 2015 on Hotels
Hotel had a conference taking place during our stay but this didn't impact on the service provided. Great food, good nights sleep in comfortable bed and no noise from the people attending the conference. All in all a great stay with easy access to the forest and many other little treasures within a short drive.

Lovely hotel as a treatPosted Apr 5, 2015
We stayed on the first night of our honeymoon road trip. Staff were all very friendly and polite. They made note when we mentioned it was our honeymoon and we were congratulated by several members of staff and treated to champagne at dinner. Afternoon tea was nice, a bit expensive but nice as a treat. Dinner in the Grill House was amazing-the steak and poussin were delicious and the puddings were wonderful too. The grounds were beautiful and nice to wander around. Breakfast was nice, good range of things, soya milk and gluten free bread was offered. Would stay here again

Great location otherwise very dissapointing.Posted Mar 28, 2015 on Hotels
No hairdryer or slippers in the room, had to call reception. The 'fine dining' was a joke. No quail egg on a starter called 'smoked salmon with quail egg' had to ask for it and then a sad grey hard boiled egg was brought in on a separate plate! Food all seemed very pre-prepared and over-priced. I honestly get better in my local pub in London and half the price! I never thought I would say this but there seemed to be too many staff all bustling about and being quite intimidating. Not exactly creating a relaxing homely atmosphere. The boiler in the spa was being repaired so both the swimming pool and spa pool were cold. What a shame as the location of the hotel in the New Forest is perfect and just a short distance from some stunning woodland walks.

massive shame this hotel has no mobile reception and very intermittent wifi. I was there on business and frankly was bored out of my mind in the evenings, next time I will take a good book with me. Bar food menu is limited but I didn't want to dine for one in the two other restuants so made do with a burger. Won't be rushing back there on business, very good if you were there for leisure purposes.

Great Hotel and LocationPosted Mar 1, 2015 on Hotels
Really good hotel and location to get away from the hustle and bustle. Great running trails. Hotel only let down by not having a better dinner menu (but there are some excellent gastropubs near by), a better and larger gym and the availability of draught beer!

Forest getaway ...Posted Feb 27, 2015 on Hotels
Lovely 2 night getaway. Comfy beds and lovely room with a view to the forest. Lovely touches like an cuddly toy owl on the bed. Staff very accommodating and nice. Restaurant was ok, not anything special. Bar/lounge area was lovely but it was a huge shame they didn't use the fireplace as a real fire would have been amazing. Would stay again, lovely location for nice forest walks.
