“A view from a Golden Oldie.”

Convenient to rail station, shops, parks and Museum. Room was very bright and airy, staff very pleasant and helpful and breakfast ample and well presented. Nice pool and gym. Luggage storage was handy bonus. Would stay again.

“OK hotel but be prepared to pay for parking in a public car park”

the hotel was nice - very big - bigger than I expected. My room was very small (I booked a single) and got one. But it was clean, comfortable and adequate. For me the parking came as a surprise as there was none at the hotel and I had to park round the corner in a NCP and pay for overnight parking.

“Southampton Satisfaction”

We checked in to this hotel the night before embarking on a cruise. The building is old, but has been very well kept up. There was no ice bucket in the room, but upon asking at the desk, one was quickly produced. The restaurant was not open on Sunday evening, but light meals were available in the bar, and that was sufficient. The next morning, a substantial breakfast was provided in the restaurant. A phone at the desk connected us with a taxi dispatch service--Americans could learn something from the British re this. The beds were a bit soft for long-term use, but that night, they felt wonderful! It was a good value for the price, compared to other hotels in the area.

“OK if you don't mind parking round back!”

This hotel was perfect for anight's stay before travelling onward from Southampton. The pool is lovely and the breakfast was plentiful. Just be aware that you have to park in a NCP car park or in the open round the back. Having said that we had no problems as there are lights and cctv.

“"More than you pay for"”

I have used the Southampton Park Hotel on several occasions in the past year and have never failed to be satisfied. The hotel is clean, comfortable with good facilities in a very central city location. The staff are well presented and ALWAYS very helpful. Not 5 star but extremely good value. I will continue to use this hotel.

“Nice swimming pool, in front of park”

The hotel is conveniently between the station and southampton university. The big park in front of the hotel is pleasant. The hotel has a nice swimming pool, spa, little gym that are good for UK standards. They were nice and let me park my bicycle on one of the balcony of the hotel. The city is calm, not much to do.

I stayed at the Southampton Park Hotel for five nights during September 2011, whilst I was on a course. The hotel itself is much in need of refurbishment: the advocado bathroom suite, with a shower which lacked the water pressure I'd expect whilst staying in a hotel, were clean, but very outdated. The bedroom itself was also a little rundown and very small. However it fit the purpose and the facilities were okay at the hotel. One thing that I would comment on here though, is despite my above criticism, the staff at the hotel were fantastic: they were friendly, helpful, polite and always happy to help. I could not fault the customer service by the staff. So all in all, a bit of a run down hotel, but first class staff keeping it going. For the price I paid, I was satisfied with the hotel, whilst staying on my own, although would have been disapointed if I had booked the hotel to visit on a leisure weekend with my wife.

“There are better choices”

Hotel very convenient for cruise passengers; only a ten minute, inexpensive taxi ride. Hotel is old and showing its age. Floor creek badly which did not make for a restfull sleep. Included breakfast medicre at best. Withinin walking distance to shops, restaurants, and a beautiful park complex. Shop around, there are better hotel choices but was OK for just one night.

“cheap but not very cheerful”

The hotel was convenient for the station. But it was dull and the service in the dining room was poor - as was the food. The menu was very limited, and only the cold weather kept me indoors - next time, cold or not I'll ventyre out to eat.
