A shaky start to my stay, but good "budget" hotel.Posted Jul 13, 2014
Pros: It was convenient for what we wanted to do. It was a very reasonable price and the breakfast was good. Also there was a tea pot.
Cons: The proprietor needs to be a discreet presence behind the scenes, not at centre stage all the time.
Location: Walking on beach and cliffs. New Forest.
Two or three main issues. The proprietor seemed to think I should have rung during the preceding week to confirm I was coming. There is no instruction from Expedia to do this so I had not. He was quite argumentative about this. In addition, he claimed he had tried to phone me several times. When I examined this claim further, it turned out that he had been trying an incorrect number. On showing him the correct number, I was then in trouble for having only an 11 digit number. The other thing was that I had a digital confirmation on my phone that I had made the booking but I had not printed it out. This was also not good enough. So on arrival, after a long drive on my own in the heat, I was made to feel in the wrong on three counts. This was not what I would expect from a friendly establishment. Having started like this, and having established my credentials to his satisfaction, the proprietor was then extremely, overbearingly solicitous for the rest of our stay.

Great B&BPosted Jun 30, 2014 on Hotels.com
We spent a couple of nights there over a weekend. The owner is very friendly. We had a great breakfast each day - cooked to order. Good value for money and located near the beach at Highcliffe

Had an excellent 4 night stay. Great location for exploring the New Forest and Salisbury. Our room was comfortable and quiet. Off street parking was useful. The breakfasts were excellent. Our host, John, was the perfect gentleman. We would definitely stay again if in the area.

Fantastic servicePosted May 1, 2014 on Hotels.com
This is the second time we have stayed at the Beech Tree when visiting family who live in Christchurch. What can we say - a really lovely guest house, the couple who run it Nina and John are very friendly and could not do enough for you. The breakfast is very good, have a full breakfast and you do not feel hungry again until the evening. We will be returning next year.

like parents' housePosted Sep 4, 2013 on Hotels.com
Very clean and friendly. Rooms look cozy and pleasant. Owner is super friendly and we felt like his personal house guests, breakfast was yummy. 5 mins from beach and town. If getting a taxi locally, conform price prior to travel as we experienced extremely rude and confrontational taxi ride.
