Great place to stay for a weekend breakPosted May 12, 2014
Pros: The great breakfast and a pot of tea later in the day when we returned. We enjoyed a welcome glass of wine offered to us by friendly staff.
Location: The historic docks, the shopping centre at the foot of the spinnaker tower. For a special occasion Restaurant 27 just up the road, is recommended too.
My wife and I enjoyed a short break to visit the Mary Rose exhibition. We left the car parked up at the hotel and enjoyed a pleasant walk along the coast to the historical docks.

Excellent small unpretentious hotel in SouthseaPosted Mar 31, 2014
Pros: It was extremely clean and the staff very pleasant and helpful
Cons: The bedroom TV should be adjustable to aid viewing in bed and needs channel information. The bar area was a little gloomy and uninspiring.
Location: The location is on a quiet street and is an easy walk to the shore and interesting restaurants.
We were welcomed by Mark when we arrived and we were shown into the bar which we thought was a little gloomy and uninspiring. However, our room and en-suite shower room was extremely comfortable, clean and pleasantly decorated. We were looked after very well during our two night stay with great breakfasts and very friendly service - nothing seemed to be too much trouble and there was even a twenty-four hour room service for food & drink..... For an evening meal we were recommended to a Turkish restaurant nearby which was an easy walk and excellent value.

Good locationPosted Feb 17, 2014
Excellent hotel and the staff could not be more helpful. I would say that if you were to stay book direct with the hotel as the room size could be an issue as the deluxe room is small for the price.

2 nights at the Clarence hotelPosted Jan 21, 2014 on Hotels.com
Booked a 2 night stay, when we got there a complimentary drink was offered from the bar for both of us, which was a nice touch. We then sat down with a lovely lady who went through all the local places to visit and a map of the area was given to us showing all the recommended restaurants and bars. Our bags were then taken up to our very individual room which was home for 2 nights. The room we had was lovely with a large bathroom upstairs, heated floor, double sinks and separate tv. The room and linen was very clean. We met the owners in the morning when we came down for a great freshly cooked breakfast. All in all cannot fault the quality and service we received and look forward to returning to the Clarence hotel again.

1st class from start to finishPosted Sep 9, 2013 on Hotels.com
You couldn't really ask for more. 5-star, 1st class service from the moment I knocked on the door until the morning I left. Fantastic staff, great quality rooms with everything thrown in and the best shower I've seen in years. Utterly brilliant...
