good value for the areaPosted Apr 30, 2013 on Hotels.com
The only disappointments were the noisy traffic as we had a room in the front, but that was bearable at night- and the smallness of the room which was otherwise perfectly and thoughtfully arranged. We had booked on price, therefore this was the price we paid! Didn't realise that for extra cost we could have had an off road room, but probably would have still opted for what we took. Friendly host and staff and locals!!

Clean and comfy rooms. Good food and real ales. Enough parking. Downside is location on the side of the busy A36, so quite noisy.

Noisy traffic but nice.Posted Apr 22, 2013 on Hotels.com
Our room was only feet away from the A36 main road, therefore the noise of large lorries passing by seemed constant overnight, which is a shame because in all other respects it was an enjoyable stay.

Positives and negatives...Posted Apr 10, 2013 on Hotels.com
Saturday night stay; room comfortable if cramped, however very loud music from the bar below carried on until 1.30AM or so and was pretty annoying. Ear plugs are a must, for this, and the very busy road directly outside - though they won't help the building shaking when an HGV goes past. First rate breakfast in generous proportions. Staff all very friendly. Error with the bill sorted out quickly and without argument.

Good Location But NoisyPosted Jan 23, 2013 on Hotels.com
Very friendly welcome from the owners and staff, good bar meal and very good breakfast. The location was good for a pre-cruise stay from Southampton. Unfortunately our room was tiny, I mean TINY. Even though we were at the back of the property we could hear the big lorries thundering past, so the room was noisy.

Very nice and friendly people food and drink great and bar staff and customers very friendly to. Room very clean and comfortable and clean. It is on a main road so can be a little noisey.

had a hard time finding itPosted Oct 23, 2012 on Hotels.com
We had a hard time finding this hotel (especially at night). The directions don't specifically indicate that Plaitford is a very small town on the A36 that is not between Romsey and Salisbury. It is "close" to both... Once you get there, it is obvious how to get there, but it's not to someone coming from outside the UK. However, once we found it, everything worked out.
