Good central location

Always friendly and helpful on reception, a little overwhelmed in the restaurant when very busy, but coped well. Some of the spa staff could be a little more helpful. On the whole a pleasant stay.

COnvenient hotel near centre of Winchester

Posted May 12, 2015
Good parking and reasonably comfortable hotel with a great breakfast and lovely staff, but the room had only a velux window looking onto another roof , and the air con caused a draught over our heads. The extraction in the bathroom didnt work well unfortunately

Nice Hotel near to town centre.

Posted May 12, 2015
Pros: Location.
Cons: Breakfast
Location: 10 minutes from town center and all attractions
Modern Hotel only a 10 minute walk from town centre with very good car parking. Staff were excellent and very attentive. Meal in the restaurant was good but would have liked a better choice. Breakfast was the most disappointing of the whole stay, it was a buffet style and all the hot food had been to long under heat, bacon was tough, eggs were hard and chewy, hash browns were very greasy and to top it all the food was not that hot - could do a lot better. But would stay there again.

Some inconsistencies in room sizes.

Posted Apr 21, 2015
Pros: Well appointed rooms and bar area.
Cons: Play soft jazz rather than rock music in the restaurant, which destroyed the mood.
Location: Winchester is a delight and many attractions around inc Historic Dockyard at Portsmouth and National Trust properties.
This is a nice hotel very conveniently situated close to Winchester (walking distance). The car park at the back is not very big and is extra cost 90pph during day and 15pph at night. There is a large Pay and Display at the front. We had paid extra for a superior room and although well appointed it was much smaller than expected, but after complaining the hotel staff found us another room in the new build part of the hotel which was larger. I would not have used the hotel again if we had stayed in the original room. The hotel staff were particularly helpful and restaurant staff service was excellent. Food was very good although portions not large but don't understand why they use such small plates. Restaurant well appointed but personally I do not like to hear rock music while I am dining which just competes with diner's conversations. I would definitely use the hotel again but I would want assurances over the room size.

They Are Just Going Through The Motions

Posted Feb 22, 2015 on Hotels.com
A regular hotel in a reasonable location (10 mins walk from town) that has all the physical elements of a 4 star but is lacking in the service department. All the staff seemed poorly trained and displayed a complete lack of interest in guests - they really were just going through the motions. Breakfast food quaity was also poor and sloppily served with a grumpy disposition. OK if you need to put your head down somewhere overnight but not good for much more.

weekend break

The hotel staff were friendly and sorted room service for us after the usual kitchen closing time. The spa is a little dated but functional and the same comment applies to the hotel rooms and general decor too.
