Leisure break

Posted Feb 23, 2015
Pros: Price and the staff
Cons: Shower, see above
Only the shower, which went hot and cold and it was impossible to get a constant temperature, let the hotel down.

lovely hotel in the city

Posted Feb 22, 2015
Pros: Location was brilliant.
Location: Couple of minutes walk from High street and cathedral
Great location. Lovely comfortable room , quiet and with great view to the garden. Only criticism is there was no evening meal, room service or bar meal on the Friday night because they were too busy training staff. Good price.

Pros: Great location, clean
Location: good location in the heart of the centre of town
There was a mistake with the booking for our room. Upon arrival the receptionist couldn't find any record of our booking on her system although it was on the Expedia system. We were given complimentary tea while she contacted Expedia and then liaised with her colleagues to rectify the situation. Although we had booked the Executive suite it was now unavailable and so we were offered a standard room in the new building. This room, although smaller, was spotlessly clean as was the bathroom and we accepted this along with complimentary wine, biscuits, fruit, parking and breakfast. Thanks to Debbie the receptionist at the hotel we enjoyed our stay at the hotel

Quiet, excellent central location in Winchester.

Posted Feb 10, 2015
Pros: A truly hidden gem in a quiet street, comfortable bedrooms, excellent breakfast, decorated to a high standard, welcoming staff.
Cons: No
Location: Centrally located, easy to walk the historical sites of Winchester, Cathedral, Watermill, central shopping, many restaurants and cafes around.
My family enjoyed a one night stay in this lovely hotel. The hotel was chosen for its close proximity to Southampton University, together with the opportunity to visit historical Winchester and dine in one of Winchester's many restaurants. We ate in the Fish Bar & Grill, would highly recommend.

Well located Hotel in Winchester

Posted Feb 9, 2015
Pros: The location, the accommodation and the historic setting
Cons: The standards of cooking in the hotel restaurant. The food served in the restaurant was the poorest we have experienced in any hotel for many years.
Location: Winchester city centre is an unspoilt gem. We recommend the Cathedral, The Great Hall and the City Mill especially.
Comfortable and well presented accommodation and facilities, perfectly located for exploring the historic city centre. Generally high standards, but spoilt by poor service and unacceptable standards of the food in the restaurant.

Lovely hotel right in the heart of Winchester

Posted Feb 8, 2015
Pros: Staff were welcoming, friendly and courteous. Room was spacious and well appointed. Food very good. Liked the history of the hotel and walled garden.
Location: Located in centre of Winchester which is a most beautiful old city with fascinating history. The cathedral is nearby and the guided tour is excellent.
Spent two nights here with my adult son at the beginning of February. We wanted to stay centrally so that we could explore Winchester on foot. We explored the city in the morning and spent the afternoon in the cathedral including taking the guided tour and also seeing Jane Austen's grave. We found the hotel ideal and ate there on the first evening. However there were plenty restaurants to choose from locally and we ate at an Italian on the second evening. Can highly recommend cream tea at the hotel. The scones were the best I had ever tasted! A thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Very convenient for the city centre

Posted Jan 5, 2015
Pros: The location.
Cons: Room wall needs painting, either the carpet needs a good clean or replacing rooms 141 and 143.
Location: Plenty to do nearby, simply check with the local tourist information for current events.
Lovely stay, however the room wall had lots of paint patches were the paint work had been touched up and a very unsightly stains on the carpet. Otherwise the room although only looks out onto another walled area was very comfortable. Breakfast was overall lovely, but we did have an undercooked sausage. Dispite the faults I would stay there again.
