"The hostel that Hogwarts forgot?"
This building is just as beautiful and striking as it appears in images. In fact, it's possibly more impressive when you realise how idiosyncratically labyrinthine it is. After some confusion upon arrival (I checked in after 10pm and there was already someone else in my bed) I was reassigned to a 4 bed mixed dorm at the very top of the building. It seemed comically impossible to find, but after a few twists and turns, a non literal knight in literally shining armour, a walk-through shower room complete with hidden stairs, I chanced upon it! After a seriously tiring day of travelling under some uncharacteristically sweltering London sun, I was genuinely overjoyed to see the room had an electric fan. This was the single most impresive thing that room could possibly have had. I abandoned my stuff and went down to the bar to catch the end of the world cup final. Extra time and the atmosphere was electric - everyone rooting for Germany and not an empty seat in the place!I I only wish I had gotten to the hostel earlier to enjoy it in good company. The bar staff were laid back and friendly. My friend & I curled up on the sofas to chat long after the bar closed. I would definitely recommend this place. My room being overbooked was unfortunate, but it seemed like no big deal to the largely disinterested staff member I dealt with. I guess that is still preferable to dealing with someone who doesn't know how to handle these occurences. It all worked out well in the end.

"Good place to stay for a short visit."
Stayed a full week in early October, just the wife and I. Easy to find, five minute walk from the Tube station. Checked it out on google street view first so when we came off the tube it seemed as if we'd been there before and knew right where to go and exactly what to look for. There is a flight of steps up to the office with no handicap access that I noticed. We stayed in a smallish flat with a kitchenette, up an additional flight of stairs. I believe there was just one more floor above us. No lifts, but no problem with that for me. Room was just what we needed; a place to sleep, eat, and poo. Nothing grand by any stretch but was a good home base to return to in a nice area after trekking around London for the day. There is a market just off the Tube stop that served all our grocery needs just nicely. The only con I can think of would be that you have to pay for Wi-Fi at the Welby. We just went to the "Pret" for a cuppa and to check in back home via Wi-Fi as needed, they are ubiquitous in the greater London area. We were on a budget and this filled the bill nicely. In case you were unaware, London is an expensive place to visit.

"Great hotel on a budget"
This is a budget hotel but we really enjoyed our 3 night stay there. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, the room (triple) was very large and spacious, with a large window and high ceiling, and it was very quiet overall because it's situated in a fairly quiet residential area. It's close to Swiss Cottage Underground/bus links and it's only a 5-10 min walk to Belsize Park shops and Underground, so it's good for getting about. The beds were also clean and comfortable. The breakfast is cornflakes and toast (no full English) but was fine for us. Downsides? Well it is a budget hotel so some of the decor and furnishings and fixtures are past their best and could do with a freshen up, but this is hardly a problem if you're not too bothered about that and just want a clean, comfortable and pleasant place at a good price to use as a base for visiting London. We would recommend this place to others and would definitely consider staying again next time we come to London.
