“The staff are very nice”

The all staff treat us very nicely and professionally. The room is very clean and has a good view.

“A great hotel with the perfect location for the West Lake”

We have traveled throughout China and would have to say that this is one of the best hotels for the money that we have stayed at. The view of the West Lake is great and the food was superb. We will use this location again if in the area.

“Nice, clean, walking distance to everything important”

Nice hotel - nice view of the lake from the restaurant where we had breakfast. Did not have a view of the lake from our room, though, as we had a cheaper room. We had to add a 3rd person for one night, and it was no problem -- they simply added a bed to our room, then took it away again the next day. I was also impressed by their laundry service! A bit pricey, but my clothes came back as if they were new, even pressed and folded with a cardboard backing and plastic packaging. Walking distance from the lake and a string of bars just across the street; shopping down the street as well.

“Location is hard to beat”

This hotel is situated brilliantly at the edge of the lake. I think the rooms could use some updating though.

“great views and location but maintenance needs improvement”

The Lakeview is a decent hotel in a great setting. It faces the lake across a very busy road, and you need to walk a little ways to a crossing spot which is still a bit dangerous (no light but at least the crosswalk is marked). We were lucky to be upgraded to the executive floor, which has nicer hallways and carpeting. The rooms are no different. Our nonsmoking room was a bit small with just a sliver of a lake view. There was no small of smoke in the room. But the room was clean and had a comfortable bed, good pillows and a wonderful big armchair with a great reading light. The Western restaurant on the 7th floor has a great view and a so-so breakfast, but it is very crowded with tour groups from 7:30-9 am. The Chinese restaurant on the 8th floor had good food at dinner and reasonable prices. However, the service was haphazard. (pleasant but slow) Internet service was very slow and frustrating, but the price was right (only about $5 per day). All in all, the hotel was a very good value. There were no big problems. But it lacked charm. I would probably not return.

“Will definitely stay there again”

This hotel was in an excellent location, right on the edge of the lake. Very easy walking distance to shops, restaurants, markets and different districts. Facilities were good, staff friendly although English speaking was limited with some staff. Hotel was very reasonably priced. I will be a regular visitor to Hangzhou as my daughter is now studying there and I will definitely use the Lakeview Hotel again.

“Good Value Hotel”

The Lake View Hotel offers good value for money. It is in a good location (on the West Lake waterfront), has nice big and clean rooms. It is also resonably priced. The downside for us was that our room smelled of smoke but we were prepared for this based on a previous review so not a huge issue

“Not like the pictures”

The room was small, dirty, and not a place I'd stay again! I wouldn't recommend... especially if you like a clean bathroom!

“Near the lake but room is not that good”

I booked for a king size bed but the hotel told me that there is no king size bed room. The window in my room on the 3rd floor is the interior of the hotel lobby ... i.e. it does not face outside!

“Drip, drip, drip”

The beginning of the stay was quite normal, with expectations of a cozy relaxing time. However, around 11:30 PM, without any kind of prior physical doing anything on our part there began a steady "drip, drip, drip" from the ceiling above the entry way to the room. We were laying in bed and heard this sound and were alarmed when it did not stop. This was to be a romantic get-away, and it turned into a troublesome experience. We did not want to move or even consider changing rooms at this late time. So, we lay listening to this sound throughout the night. When morning came we reported the drip and a crew of four people came into our room with us half dressed and began to "fix" it. They were there for 20-30 minutes......left and then the dripping began again. We did not check out until 12:00 because of our previous arrangments for travel and had this dripping continue to the very end. Upon check out we asked for a discount and they said they couldn't because of this being booked through Expedia. They gave us a wall hanging as a consolation, but this was definitely not a winning experience. :(((((
