Pros: Location and Cleanliness
Location: Great - 500m to West Lake. He Fang Pedestrain Street, Train and Bus (from Pudong Airport) stations, Shopping malls nearby
Hotel is modern designed. Room though small is modern and clean. Staff helpful with information. Taxi drivers do not know "SSAW Hotel". Chinese name of the hotel is available on their card but not on Expedia makes it difficult to direct taxi to hotel when we first arrived. Especially when the hotel location on Expedia map is wrong! Hotel is on Jiefang Road but map shows differently.

1970s standard, very average fixtures and fittingsPosted Oct 12, 2013
Pros: Location, 500 yards from West Lake. This hotel is ideal for budget traveller but not for business travel
Cons: Food, late check out flexibility, actually have facilities you advertise you have.
Location: Very close to West Lake
NOT ideal for business traveller. No evening meal facilities, breakfast standard was poor (I refused to eat there), very little room in the room to work. No business center facilities. Seeking late checkout, they charge every time (no flexibility for late travel arrangements). Advertised Gym facilities, none exist.

The hotel is in a great locationPosted Jul 25, 2013
The hotel is in a great location. However, the staff were unhelpful and did not speak a work of English. If the hotel is marketing themselves to the international market, the least they can do is have an English speaking receptionist. When my friends/family tried to call my room, the receptionists hung up each time, as they couldn't be bothered to speak English. Overall, decent hotel but needs much improvement!

a good stayPosted Jun 5, 2013
We stayed here for one night, as a getaway from Shanghai. The hotel is a little bit showing its age, but is kept in a good condition. Most importantly, the price is right and the location is awesome, very close to the lake. We spent the first afternoon/night walking around the West Lake and visited the Lingyin Temple the next morning. All in all, it was a good stay.

Priced for moderately budget conscious peoplePosted Mar 29, 2013
Pros: The central location is the hotel's best and most convenient feature.
Cons: The hotel is unable to exchange currency, but fortunately there are two banks next door where you can withdraw money from the ATM machines.
Location: Lots of restaurants and shops nearby. West Lake is less than a 10 minute walk. Taxis can take you anywhere you want
SSAW Hubin is a limited service, but decent quality hotel conveniently located within a 10 minute walk of West Lake. The hotel is centrally located with plenty of restaurants, tea shops, and department stores right outside. The hotel is next door to two banks where you can withdraw Chinese money using your ATM debit card. Just make sure your pin number is four digits. Two to three taxis wait outside the hotel every morning to take passengers to the train station (10 minutes), the airport (45 minutes), or anywhere else they want to go. The hotel serves a predominately Chinese breakfast between 6:30 - 10am. The menu is the same every day and consist of fried eggs, toast, hash browns, french toast, wonton noodle soup, rice congee, pan fried dumplings, Shanghai Xiaolong Bao, fried rice, fried rice noodles, Chinese meatballs, stir fried Chinese vegatables, assorted pastries, assorted Chinese steamed buns, cereal, yogurt, assorted fresh fruits, juice, milk, coffee, and tea. Rooms are clean. The mattress is firm, but not your typical hard Chinese bed. Free internet. Flat screen TV with limited English channels.
