Cons: Room very hot in the afternoon - centralized air conditioner - should have individual room cool temperature control.
Complained about the heat inside the room, and was advised by the staff just to open the window to let the cool air in. As a consolation, I was given an OLD electric fan.

It was a great hotel! Business services were great, the staff and accommodations were wonderful! If you're looking to visit West Lake or the surrounding area - this is the place to stay as well!

Check-in was quick, and the room comfortable and clean. Despite there being some renovation and building works going on, the noise was kept to day time so wasn't a disturbance. The lounge area for Accord Le Club loyalty scheme members was nice and pleasant, although they seemed to run out of food quickly. Breakfast buffet included a good selection of Chinese and Western dishes (noodels, dumplings, bread, cheese, cold cuts, fresh fruit). The hotel is next to the West Lake with easy access to the parks and pavilions nearby, as well as a large supermarket (Carrefour). Would definitely go back.

For the price we are paying, we expect newer, modern rooms. The furnitures are old, carpets looked dirty and need washing. It's definitely overpriced, only good thing is the location, opposite the Westlake. The air-conditioning is centrally controlled and thus we cannot get a comfortable temperature in the room, got to resort to opening windows to allow natural air in. No breakfast and no wifi in room. Until today, we still cannot find justifications for the rates we paid for the room.

Great staff, I left my wallet in the room safe and they jumped right on it to recovery it and send it to me. Rooms were very comfortable, staff friendly and helpful, will stay there again.

The Sofitel is a lovely hotel on the shores of the West Lake. This hotel will bend over backwards to offer you the quality of service not found in most hotels around the world. They will go above and beyond to help you discover Hangzhou, not just the typical places of interest but those out of the way places that make a city memorable. In the restaurants, the service and food are terrific. My daughter and I requested iced tea, they were a little surprised at the request but we managed to enjoy our favorite beverage daily. The location cannot be beat, right on the shores of the West Lake and its marvelous teahouses and stores. Stay in the comfort and ease of the Sofitel, you will find the staff enjoyable to speak with on the attributes of this beautiful city of Hangzhou.

Overall, pleasant experience. Good location although the hotel itself looks a little 'tired' and could do with a bit of refurbishment. Although the front staff was pleasant, their standard of English could be improved (compared to Sofitel Hyland Shanghai). Also, upon check out, as we were in a hurry to get to the airport, we told the cashier to prepare our bill while we get our luggage from our rooms. However, when we came down some 15 minutes later, the bill was still not ready and we had to wait another 10 minutes to fully settle the bill. Hence, the effiency of the staff could be improved.
