Greenacres was a disgusting experience. The room (Villa) was so dirty, filthy and smelly that we could not stay for our planned duration. I have never stayed in a place so filthy and run down in over 42 years of travelling NZ and the globe. I have stayed in many tramping huts, backpackers, hostels and back country lodges - but Greenacres takes the number 1 spot for pure filth and dirt. Dead flies, food/grime in cutlery draws, crumbs on tables, dirt in bathrooms, dirty plates, filth and smell in the rubbish bins, unclean carpets, lights not working. Did I mention the smell. I instructed my children to not touch anything. We all felt sick and disgusted in this place. I shared my views and concerns with the manager on departure (an early departure, because we were not staying any longer than we had to). He claimed that they cleaned the units well. I seriously question that claim and have photos to show the dirt that was present in our unit. I recommend that no other person/family stays here. It was a horrible experience.

The beds were very uncomfortable, shower needed a good clean, the kitchen plugs were broken and unsafe to use, the kettle inside needed a clean or a new one, the room got very cold fast without the heater on.

I had booked for 4 people, 2 adults and 2 children at $195 for the night. On arrival I was charged an extra $40 as the children's ages had not been shown on their copy of the booking. I ended up paying $235 for a unit that was showing on Wotif at that time, for $176. The unit was probably very nice in the 1970s when it was new, but is now very aged and no updating has been done. The view was great.

HI Frank thank you for your feedback . I double check your booking which was one of 2 bedroom townhouse booked for 2 adult 2 children, our price on the day was $195 for two people , extra person fee $20 on the wotif website. but we have no charge for the baby who are under 3 year old. your original booking is for 2 adult and 2 children , but you chose the children age as 0. it is main reason we asked you how old of your children , you told us that they are 12 yr and 14yr. so they definitely use the single beds. we ask for the extra person fee due to the costing for us to change sheets and pillowcases and setup the extra beds. it is really helpful to fill up the right information when you make the booking. it also makes our reception confused by your wrong information . Yeah , we are the first motel in hanmer springs, and our style are chalet and villa , all the buildings are separated. we are not 5 star hotel or motel , but we focus on runing the cosy and family home in hanmer springs. thank you for your stay .

Great position could walk to shops etc, budget accommodation pet friendly which was most important, unit was clean but outside porch needed cleaning as spider webs attached to roof etc otherwise very happy would return.

Had an amazing view was the only good thing about this old dated complex. Booked it due to the spa, only to find it was broken and an $8 charge per person to use which wasn’t stated on their website. On walking on we were hit with a terrible smell and were advised the previous person had burnt something so they had burnt vinegar to remove the smell, huge fail. They could have been more proactive and not rent out that apartment until it was safe to do so

Fantastic view. Lovely self contained apartment but very dated and needs alot of maintenance. Grounds very poorly kept. Overall far too expensive for condition.

A very enjoyable short break.
We had a very relaxing and enjoyable short break. We did the jetboat ride and relaxed in the hot pools and enjoyed a game of mini-golf. The weather was very overcast, but at least it did not rain.

welcoming hosts, good location. Roomy chalet but could have been so much better with just a few improvements. - A second easy chair or a sofa. A clock radio. A blind or curtain in the kitchen. bathroom recently renovated so maybe the other rooms are next

Hi Kevin Thank you for staying with us. Sorry for the WIFI. As you may not know, there is only one internet cable for the whole Hanmer Springs town and we don't have fiber either. While some facilities and decor are a little old and faded, the rooms are generous, and the service was excellent. The town had electricity black out and we were offered the choice if a refund or risk a stay in minus zero over night with no heating if the electricity didn’t come back on. The owner stayed on duty to turn the heating on in our cabin (while we were away funding something to eat) and also turned on the hot tub so it was bubbling hot for a breakfast bathe.

It was cold very cold no heating in bedroom and the only heating was an air con unit that was so noisie you couldn't hear yourself think.

Sorry for that. We do have Electric blanket on every single bed I think that may help you. Our motel also can provide oil heater if you needed. Next time please don't hesitate ask our friendly staff to get some help. Thank you
