Terribly disappountedPosted Oct 30, 2014
Door lock failed to work at some point during our 3 day stay. I discovered this by chance when I returned to the room after a spa treatment. I was able to just walk into the room. It took the staff several hours to fix this issue, so we had to hang around the room to keep an eye on our belongings. That night, the air conditioner also went out. We had to hang around the next morning for that to be fixed as well. At checkout time we went down to the front desk to pay our bill. The receptionist called into a hand held radio to send someone to inventory our mini bar. We settled the bill, then I immediately realized I had left my phone sitting on the bed. The manager escorted me back to the room to retrieve my phone. It was gone. I checked all my bags - its gone. Draw whatever conclusion you like, but I believe that whoever inventoried our mini bar now has a very new Samsung phone.

Good value good locationPosted Aug 17, 2014
Pros: Location and facilities
Location: As above
In the middle of the old quarter close to the lake. Good rooms, staff helpful. Plenty of eateries close by. Not far (can be walked) to Hanoi Hilton and National Museum.

Good location but no windowsPosted Aug 16, 2014
Enjoyed our stay here. Great location near the lake and Old Quarter. Bathroom door/window is a little exposing - I was sharing with a friend and the room didn't have a window. Other than that, no issues! :)

Small and stylishPosted Jun 19, 2014
Pros: After spending time absorbing the many sights and sounds of Hanoi's "Old Quarter", it's a joy to step into this haven of calm and tranquility.
Cons: It's worth noting that space is at anpremium in Hanoi and many hotels, this one included, have rooms without windows! Although there is air-con.
Location: Explore the myriad of narrow streets. Sample amazing street food and the best coffee in the world. Take in a Water Puppet show. Negotiate the traffic!
This hotel is a delight. Rooms are beautifully clean, comfortable and well appointed in a boutique style; as the name implies. Staff are pleasant, courteous and helpful. They have a knack for making every guest feel special. We have stayed here twice now and will certainly do so again when next in Hanoi. Highly recommended.

Quality place near the lakePosted Jun 11, 2014
Golden silk is quite upscale, very beautiful hotel with 10 floors and 8 rooms on each floor. The bathroom features tub, the fixtures are of good quality. Rooms are split 4 on each side of the lifts, numbers ending with 7 and 8 are on the front of the hotel, with windows overlooking the cacophony of the street below. I was in room 304, next to the lift. 3rd floor is not recommended if you are a light sleeper. The breakfast room is on the 2nd, and the staff chit chat as they work. I woke up to raucous laughter at 445am. Try to go further up if you can. Otherwise, great place. Beds are clean, 2 fluffy pillows on each bed, toiletries- dental kit, shower cap, cotton buds, the usual lotion shampoo body gel set, wifi is strong and don't drop. Breakfast has an omelette station, a pho station one day, fried rice/noodles, vegetables, a meat, congee, bacon, sausage, croissants, white bread, 3 types of cereals. Hanoi is very humid and hot at the moment (June) and the air con was a blessing each time I get back to the hotel.
