Fantastic staff and central location

Posted Apr 14, 2014
Pros: The staff were brilliant. Customer service was king. The location was good. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble.
Cons: Nothing.
Location: City centre location with access off a small lane. We walked everywhere and saw most city centre attractions.
I cannot praise the staff and the customer service ethic of this hotel highly enough to do it justice. We arrived early, in a hotel transfer organised by the hotel, and were made to feel at home immediately with a welcome drink. We were then given our room- even though it was well before check in time. The room was clean and comfortable with complimentary fruit and water. Breakfast is served in the basement breakfast room where fresh juice, fruit and cooked items are plentiful. The hotel arranged our onward travel and check out was quick. Now, here's the best bit. We returned to Hanoi, from Cat Ba, and went back to the Serene to ask if they would keep our luggage until we went to the train station. This was totally unplanned. We were greeted like long lost family! Not only did they agree to keep our luggage but they also insisted that we use a room to shower before we went to catch the night train... That's what I call service. This is why I hold this hotel in such high esteem.

Heart of Old Town

Pros: We liked everything about this hotel. Location, service, room, cleanliness, friendliness and the breakfasts served.
Cons: They were hard to find, and the light had burned out in their sign. I'm sure that is fixed by now.
Location: There is the whole old quarter to explore, the lake, the cathedral. We weren't interested in some of the other museums near by.
We were greeted with a warm cloth, fresh fruit, and coffee or juice. Then staff showed us the map of where we were in relationship to attractions we wanted to see. They went above and beyond, and even got a jacket I had left in Hue at a sister hotel returned to me before we left and wouldn't except any payment for getting it there. Called our taxi's, recommended restaurants, they even booked our last night in Hanoi for us when we couldn't stay there. We had planned on staying at the airport our last night, but loved this hotel so much we wanted to stay there, but they were booked. The doorman walked us to KFC when the taxi never came. The service was just amazing. The breakfast was selected from a menu with fresh squeezed juices, wonderful banana pancakes, good omelettes, and of course pho which I didn't try here since the other things on the menu were so good. The room has a computer which was great for me as my husband had sports on when her remembered it was March Madness. The hotel was convenient to everything we wanted to see except the Ethnic Museum, which is a must see. Use the Mai Ling taxis in evey city, we paid for it when we didn't.

Pros: Rooms, helpfulness of the staff.
Location: Right in the midst of the old French Quarter.
This tiny hotel is full of unexpected features. The bedrooms and bathrooms are of a very high standard, breakfast is excellent and the helpfulness of the staff just couldn't be beaten.

Nice hotel in the heart of Hanoi

Posted Mar 3, 2014
Pros: Location, friendly staff.
Cons: Sound insulation between rooms could be improved.
We stayed overnight here before getting a transfer to Halong Bay in the morning. The hotel was lovely and the staff were very helpful. We would definitely recommend this hotel if you are wanting somewhere with good value in the middle of the city.

Great central Hotel. Fell in love with the staff!!

Posted Feb 4, 2014
The hotel is dead centre of Hanoi, great for restaurants, night life and shopping!! The staff makes this hotel, they are absolutely wonderful, I wish I could have taken them home with me! While we were there my partner and I go sick, the brought us ginger tea, and were constantly checking on us. The owners of Serene should be extremely happy with the level of service their staff offers their customers. An absolute MUST stay!
