A great historical hotel...an Institution.Posted Dec 15, 2014
Pros: It's traditional ,conservative atmosphere...
Cons: The bathroom fixtures...which are somewhat outdated and neglected.
Location: Centrally located ,just across from a major park...and square. A couple of minutes from Barbors Department Store.
I am a loyal patron of this hotel. My whole family was too,for several years. I highly recommend it as the best in Harare. The Staff at both the concierge and reception are quite obliging to their guests , The new wing is separate from the older one even though in all sincerity I enjoy the old wing better due to its British 19th - centuryColonial decor . On the rooftop, besides the swimming pool, there are tables for cocktails and it turns out to be a pleasant place to soak the warm Zimbabwean sun.

Meikles hotelPosted Sep 28, 2014
Nice centrally located hotel . Great park directly across from hotel . Pool area clean although a bit dated. Main advantage massages great value for money and staff very professional . My only negative was good from room service - in edible and overpriced

Its a great hotel to stay at and its centralPosted Aug 4, 2014
Pros: Its a brilliant Hotel
Cons: Expedia and Meikles need to sort out the Reservations issue so they dont inconvenience the guests who have paid already.
I had a great time staying there but i was annoyed by one Reception Employee who made me to pay again when i had paid through Expedia. He treated me with suspicion and this spoilt my whole weekend. I had to leave my USD240 there just because they could not access my EXPEDIA booking. The particular employee concerned was NOT helpful at all. In future Expedia needs to make sure that all reservations are available at the concerned hotel. The excuse i got was "Reservations is closed"

A victim of the circumstancesPosted Jul 22, 2014 on Hotels.com
I stayed at the Meikles 10 years ago. I went back because of that experience. The city is no longer the same, and the Meikles I think is a victim of that. They had great shops on the ground floor before, those are all closed now. The pool was heated before, this time it was not when the winter is when it should be. There were minor things that needed fixing like a closet door that would not close, they did not fix that. We asked for a roll away bed, they did not have one, only a mattress. It was winter and cold outside and they had no inside area at one of the the bars to smoke. And the breakfast was not included, but cost $70+ for three people - $25 each for adults and $20 for children for the buffet. The hotel we stayed at in Cape Town SA was less and included breakfast. And I needed a new suit case as one was destroyed by the airlines and could not find one in down town Harare from a shop that took credit cards. The city is a victim of the government there, and that has unfortunately effected what you can do and see. The Meikles is a nice property, but a bit over priced for what you get and can do in the neighborhood.

Geweldige service en heerlijke beddenPosted May 16, 2014 on Hotels.com
