Convenient. Close. Cost-effective.

The Crowne Plaza is right in the heart of downtown Harrisburg. It is not far from all that downtown has to offer. The restaurant. The bars. The Capitol. The museums. Plus if you like really really hot water, you are in luck. The water from the bathroom is hit enough to make a cup of tea. No long wait for it to heat up either.

Ok, but not very nice

Posted Nov 23, 2014
Cons: Better toilets, better consistent water temperature, better pillows.
The room was clean so I do give credit for this. On the bad side of things the toilet consistently took three flushes to just flush urine, we didn't dare use it for anything else. The shower's water temperature was a constant battle of way too hot then way too cold.

Good location

Posted Nov 12, 2014
Pros: Hotel catering staff are very friendly and attentive.
Cons: Meeting rooms could stand some updating.
Location: Nice walking trail by the river.
I was in Harrisburg for a meeting at the Crowne Plaza. The hotel is located very conveniently to several nice restaurants within easy walking distance. There is a nice walking trail by the river. Not sure if the neighboring blocks are safe for walking in the evening, ended up going to dinner only a block away.

2nd Street Harrisburg, PA

Posted Nov 7, 2014
Pros: I liked the valet parking and proximity to 2nd Street clubs, bars and restaurants.
Cons: The building is old & tired. It needs gutted rather than the obvious cosmetic efforts. Pay the beggars out on the street not to beg or feed them.
Location: 2nd Street is old and dirty. I did not feel completely safe while walking late afternoon on a Saturday. There are a number bars and restaurants.
The Hotel is easy to find and right on the street. You literally drive across the sidewalk into the hotel building for valet parking. The valet parking attendant was very polite and concise with the procedures of valet parking. It was an excellent first impression. Check-in was easy and speedy. Reception was polite. The room was adequate with a small bathroom. There was only one lamp next to the bed. There was a big stain on the carpet (needs replaced) and stuffing was coming out of the desk chair (needs replaced). Elevators are speedy. The breakfast food at the restaurant was good. Check out was also quit easy with reasonable retrieval time of vehicle from valet parking.

stayed here one night and am never coming back

Posted Nov 6, 2014
Pros: pillows were comfortable
Cons: everything else
Highly disappointed with my recent stay at this hotel. The building was very old, there was mold in the shower, there is a church bell that rings every half hour, the doors rattle when other people close their doors in neighboring rooms and the heater in the room is ridiculously loud so basically I didn't have a good nights sleep at all and wanted to leave this place as soon as possible. I felt like I did not get my moneys worth. I just wanted a place to rest my head that had running water and was unable to get that at this hotel. Oh yeah the shower is either super hot or super cold there is no middle.

Toilet overflowed during the night and hair dryer did not work I informed hotel housekeeping staff at 830 am about the issues they stated it was not thier room. I talked to the front desk at 8:35 on my way to a meeting they said that they would take care of it. My meeting was over at 2pm and when I returned the toilet was still overflowing I sat in the lobby till 4:15 till it was finally fixed. The next morning I looked up at the cieling in the bathroom and there were papertpowels shoved under the ceiling tiles and sticking out.

Not what expected

Posted Oct 5, 2014
The service at the restaurant was horrible, took so long to take order. Brought wrong food out and when told did nothing about it. Plus steak was cooked wrong and waitress didn't offer a new one. Room was small than expected, thought I was getting pull out couch. Plus night I was there room rates where 103 and I paid 160. Overall not happy.

Disorganized

Posted Sep 28, 2014
I thought with the name came some sort of guarantee of it being a nice hotel, however the minute we pulled up the valet was a complete unorganized mess! It took a half hour of waiting just for them to take my car. You couldn't even tell who worked there who was waiting etc because people were all over the place. They should definitely get a system in place. Other than that it wasn't the worst hotel ever but it was "wow this is nice" the bed was uncomfortable, the bathroom was small and could tell they tried to do it on a budget. The toilet was slanted the pipes were exposed, it was not one you rather stay in the hotel then go out, that's for sure.
