Friendly, Clean & PresentablePosted Dec 9, 2013
Pros: Friendly helpful Receptionists, comfortable bed and a hot bath.
Cons: See "What would make it better?" above.
Location: Close to Uni's, easy access to town of Harrisonburg & the Interstate road network. Some nice little cafe's and restaurants in the centre of town.
What worked?: Friendly, helpful receptionists. Clean room with comfortable bed and pillows. Fridge and microwave available. Telephone access to local numbers. A 'No Smoking' room. Felt safe as a female traveller. What didn't work?: Cold during the night - couldn't work the heating as no instructions. People banging door to Breakfast Room at 6.30am Sunday morning. People shouted down the corridor to each other. The overpowering smell of cigarettes in the corridor on lower floor. What would make things better?: Instructions for working the heating in the room please. Notice on Breakfast Room door re; 'Quiet on a Sunday Morning' or a soft door closure fitted. Ventilation or refreshing of corridor to remove smell. Encourage people to speak quietly when in the corridor in the early morning.

What I expected in a Super 8Posted Nov 25, 2013 on Hotels.com
I expected a low-priced, low-service hotel and the hotel was consistent with my expectations. The room was okay - pretty clean and in moderate shape. The TV worked perfectly, the bathroom was clean and functional, and the staff was really nice. I would recommend bringing your own pillow -the pillows had seen better days. But, overall, pretty good for a budget hotel..

A motelPosted Nov 11, 2013
This is a "you get what you pay for" place. I lucked out with 2 previous awesome hotel/motels for cheap. This spot looked its price. Decent on a budget. Wasn't bad, just wasn't great. Dated rooms and old tvs. Carpet bumps and not very clean. Beds were nice. Staff was nice.

Uncomfortable, dirty, and smellyPosted Nov 11, 2013 on Hotels.com
Our room stank like an ashtray. The room was dirty - old hair in the shower drain, weird stains on the walls. The sheets did not fit the bed so I slept most of the night on bare mattress.

Left after one nightPosted Nov 7, 2013 on Hotels.com
While the room was clean, it was very small. The beds did not have a bottom fitted sheet, but instead a top sheet tucked in from the bottom. One roll over in bed and you were on the bare mattress. The pillows were made of small pieces of foam-not comfortable. What finally made us cancel the next two night stay and go elsewhere was the fact that we were kept up all night by loud banging. Apparently there was a room of college kids two doors down that had so many in the room that they moved their fridge into the hall. The banging noise was them slamming their room every time they shade a trip to the fridge. They all smoked (despite it being non-smoking) and it smelled terrible. When we complained to the front desk, they said that the next night should be better as the students were checking out. Not a good enough answer. I would NOT recommend this motel.

About what we expected, smoke smell in non-smokingPosted Oct 16, 2013
Pros: The staff was very nice, polite and accommodating. The hotel was pretty close to JMU and downtown Harrisonburg restaurants, so that was convenient.
Cons: Non-smoking rooms need to be designated as such. Luckily, none of us have any breathing problems, but this could be a serious issue for other people.
Location: We were a few miles from James Madison University and had stayed there to attend that day's football game.
Our stay was about what we expected it would be, although my friends who shared the room were surprised to learn the room cost $99! We had originally booked a smoking room, since that was all that was left there for four people when we booked. We were able to check in a few hours early, which we appreciated it, and asked to switch to a non-smoking room. The staff said they were able to do that, which was also appreciated, but the room smelled extremely smoky! There was an ashtray in the room and a cigarette burn in one of the bed's comforters, both of which we found later that night. Hours after we left the hotel, all of our clothes and luggage still had the smoky smell. Our friends who stayed in another "non-smoking" room there that also had a smoky smell and an ashtray.

Very dirty hotelPosted Oct 5, 2013
Cons: clean the hotel top to bottom
Should tear it down and start over. Very dirty would not have put my dog in that room, sorry I had to stay.

Perfectly adequate for the pricePosted Oct 5, 2013 on Hotels.com
Anyone who expects any more for the price is kidding themselves, it was a perfectly good room, with perfectly good amenities (cable, fridge, coffee maker, etc) but nothing fancy (bed and pillows were less than luxurious). It was exactly what it should be, and I was perfectly satisfied with it.
