“Fabulous week in the snow/sauna and swimming pool!”
We stayed at Les Aiglons for a week from Christmas Eve to New Year's Eve 2010.
The hotel is right by the Chamonix Sud bus stop, so perfectly placed for the buses to the ski lifts (free travel with a ski pass, or with a free card from the hotel reception).
The staff were really good -- excellent but unobtrusive -- and the service in the hotel felt like it was a 4 star rather than a 3 star.
The sauna and steam room were in chalets, which meant going outside in a bath robe and slippers in the snow, which was daunting at first but was actually really good fun. The heated outdoor pool was small, but really warm, and swimming or sitting in the jacuzzi outside while it was showing, with a view of the mountains on three sides, was just lovely.
There was free wifi in all areas of the hotel, including the rooms, and the bar did simple food and hot and cold drinks all day, so it was a relaxing place for a non-skier to spend a week.
The Jekyll and Hyde pub right next door did very good food, and it was only a short walk into town (we would also recommend Alan Peru, a fantastic Asian fusion restaurant on the Ave de l'Aiguille du Midi, with excellent, really friendly staff). There was also a supermarket (a Spar) in Chamonix Sud village, just a couple of minutes from the hotel. We would definitely go back -- maybe next Christmas!
