nice to stayPosted Dec 9, 2014
Really cheap, and close to the town， nice to stay for night, you can hear the sea and birds. However, do not except the breakfast, the bed is soft.

A B&B Bargain in HiloPosted Nov 28, 2014
Pros: I just loved the backporch.
Location: This facility is within all that Hilo and Volcano have to offer.
Arron's has two main attributes. First of all, it's a pleasure to sit out on a back porch sipping coffee, or the beverage of your choice, while gazing at a real Hawaiian backyard. In this place you don't feel boxed in. Even the room was roomy. The second attribute was the positive treatment we received from our hosts---the innkeepers Alan and Penne. They made us feel welcome and they helped us get the most from our visit to Hilo. Let me add a few other things. They provide unlimited coffee, a quality breakfast, and an amazing beach that is within walking distance. The facility could use some refurbishing but it is clean and comfortable.

Very nice small, clean and affordable cottage.Posted Nov 9, 2014
Pros: Breakfast was fantastic compared to other coffee and donut places. fresh local fruits were part of it.
Cons: Rooms might need renovation in the next years.
We stayed 1 night after long haul flight into Hilo. Very close to the airport but still not noisy at all. Great base for Volcano trips. Akaka falls very close by.

Posted Oct 3, 2014

Great cottage experience with slipping maintenancePosted Oct 1, 2014
Pros: Great cottage experience.
Cons: Finding a way to preserve the cottage experience while getting a handle in the annoyances of a stay.
Location: Snorkeling and swimming within walking distance, as are several beach parks. All of Hilo's activities are within a quarter hour of driving.
These remote-administered cottages are close to the beach. Check-in and check-out were non-events, because Expedia handled the details. The attention to details to make the stay pleasant, were outstanding. There are noticable slips in maintenance, which works against remote-administration, because these minor annoiances were not worthy enough for a phone call to the owners, and we didn't have a way to mention them at check-out. Thus, the lose socket behind the coffee maker and the wall-rattling air conditioner (just tried it out, but didn't need it due to the lovely climate) didn't get reported. Can Expedia help these owners improve their service without "dinging" their ratings, or raising their costs-base?

Friendly staffPosted Sep 29, 2014
Pros: Price and kindness of the owners.
Cons: Cleanliness of the common kitchen and the carpet of the room. Old furniture needs some renewal.
Breakfast is good. You have a kitchen with all the ingredients you need to have your breakfast prepared. You always have available fresh local fruit (collected in the hotel backyard) and fresh juice. Depending on the days, the owner prepares some cakes, or scrambled eggs, sausages, rice,... You have cereals, yogurt, coffee, milk, eggs, ... During the night, you can hear the noise of planes landing in the Hilo airport (it's very close), although if you are deeply slept you won't hear it. Except for that, it's in a very quiet place. Rooms are a little outdated. Sheets and towels were clean. The owner showed us the property, gave us delicious fresh fruit just collected, and advised us about places to visit and restaurants nearby. She was very friendly.
