“Incredible View”

This is the first time we have stayed at Kona by the Sea, but if we return to the big island we will definitely stay there again. We had a one bedroom room, or condo actually, that was great. Two bathrooms made for great convenience, and the kitchen was very useful for preparing a meal to be enjoyed on the lanai overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean. All of our breakfasts were on the lanai with the incredible view as were our dinners when we weren't eating out. The Kona by the Sea was convenient to Kona shopping and dining as well as the roads to all points on the island which we visited during our stay. I don't think we have ever enjoyed a room more than this one.

“Absolutely fantastic”

Everything about the hotel and room was perfect. It is located about 2 miles from town, so you don't have to deal with all the heavy downtown crowds. On the other hand, this does mean that a rental car is an absolute necessity. We stayed in one of the newly refurbished rooms. I would highly recommend requesting this when you make your reservations, as the refurbished rooms are much nicer. Every room has a full kitchen, completely equipped with dishes, pots and pans, silverware and all appliances. Every room has a washer and dryer, as well, so you don't need to pack as many clothes with you. The Lanai had a beautiful view of the ocean. Every room has high speed cable modem internet access, but there is a charge for it (fairly reasonable, if you buy it by the week). There is no fitness center, but there is a place in town called "The Club" that will let you have a temporary membership for very reasonable rates. Overall, I couldn't give this hotel a higher recommendation, and would definitely stay here again if I return to Kona.

“A great place to stay”

Very nice ocean front condo, clean and comfortable in every way. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. It is a little far from the main part of Kona (maybe 2 miles)so it was good to have a car. We were there for 6 nights and were very pleased.

This condo hotel is, for us, a perfect place to stay. Roomy, light, well-kept condos, kitchen well stocked with necessities, quiet atmosphere and right on the ocean. Each condo had two bathrooms. Pool area was well maintained and barbeques were provided for guest use.

“Perfect for a couple of first-timers!”

2 of the 3 people in our group had never been to Hawaii before so I got to play tour guide and was hoping Kona by the Sea wouldn't disappoint - and it didn't. I was extremely pleased with the quality of the condo and the friendliness of the staff. We had requested an ocean-front 2BR and our accomodations were incredible. The 3 of us had plenty of room and thoroughly enjoyed breakfast on the lanai each morning, watching for dolphins - which we saw almost every morning - albeit from a distance. Some kind souls had left beach chairs, a cooler, an umbrella and boogie boards and we used them all. Snorkeling at Kahaluu Beach and City of Refuge were among the highlights as was the drive to Black Sands beach. We rented a car so the short drive back into Kona for dinner was quite doable. Watching the guys feed the eels in the bay was cool as was the guy with his frisbee-catching puppy. Plenty of people watching in downtown Kona. I would highly recommend Kona by the Sea for its proximity to activities and the incredible accomodations. The pool was clean and hardly crowded, our room was immaculate and the view was astonishing. I would absolutely stay again.

“My favorite place to stay”

This was my fourth stay at Kona by the Sea. I come back for the location, location, location! Every room has a wonderful view of the ocean. The two bedroom is nicer simply because the master actually opens up to the lanai, whereas the one bedroom, the room is located at the other end of the condo. Will definately be comming back.

“ResortQuest - Kona by the Sea - Perfect!”

We loved this place! Our oceanfront one bedroom condo was spacious, clean, decorated nicely and had a beautiful view of the ocean and pool. It's about a 5 minute drive to the shops and restaurants in Kona. There is a sandy area near the ocean to sit and relax or watch the sunset but there are rocks right at the waters edge so for young kids, swimming in the ocean would not be good. It's a great place to boogie board for the more experienced swimmers. We highly recommend this place and can't wait to go back!

“Will go back again.”

Great resort. If it's all about location, location, location, this has it. While you might not find the amenities that are available at some of the hotel-style resorts, this definitaly has everything you need for the basis of a wonderful Kona vacation!!

“More than expected”

I was expecting a hotel room and got a home. The room was very spacious and comfortable. Great location to everything. There is no doubt that I will return to this hotel.

The pictures don't do this hotel justice. The small beach front and pool are not huge but clean and well maintained. The staff is the best I have ever encountered at a hotel/condo area. They truly go out of their way to bring you great service. It was quiet, comfortable and yet luxurious in our suite. Mahalo!
