Good location and valuePosted Apr 14, 2015
2nd time here staff was accommodating room was clean. Parking abundant. Even had a small sandy beach ocean front which is rare in rocky Kona. Room and Kitchen was well equipped with everything. Bed was a bit uncomfortable if you like hard beds like me. Too soft

Like a friend's apartmentPosted Apr 9, 2015
Pros: Location, layout, view.
Cons: Don't change a thing. Some very minor maintenance to keep up with. I wish we were still there...
Location: Plenty of parking. Location is about 10 minutes from Target & Safeway. Magic Sands beach just South has great sand & waves.
We could not have been more pleased with Aston Kona by the Sea. We had Unit 106 which was 2 bed and 2 bath. There was a sofa bed also (a little sloped but livable). The unit was completely perfect for our needs. First, we had a fantastic view of the ocean from our lanai. There were sliding doors in the living room and master bedroom. This was great because you could go out on the lanai from the master and not disturb someone sleeping on the sofa bed. The kitchen was updated and equipped with almost everything you might want or need. Make no mistake, this is a condo and not a hotel. Maid service was very limited and there is no restaurant or bar or anything like that. This is just like borrowing your buddy's apartment for the week. The good: - Kids loved the pool. Hot tub was well located so you could see the ocean. - Three gas grills available for guests to cook. - Great spot to see the sunset at the saltwater pool (just don't swim in the saltwater pool - yuck) - Kitchen was amazingly equipped with pots, pans, dishes, silverware, even a blender. - Layout was great. One bedroom with two twin beds and a master bedroom with a king sized bed. - Washer & dryer in unit so you can wash all that sea water out of your clothes. - DVD rental in the lobby (we got a movie each night for the kids) The bad: Nothing. A few little things that needed to be touched up and the washer was crazy loud. However, we did not feel the need to complain about anything.

dated furnishings in a condo-style "hotel"Posted Mar 3, 2015
I ended up at KBS because my flight out of Kona was delayed and this was the only hotel I could find a room at. Overall it was fine. This is not a normal hotel though. It's definitely a condominium with few amenities outside of your actual room. The room was absolutely huge--complete with 2 full bathrooms, king size bed, full kitchen, living room (with pull out couch), and washer/dryer. Way more than I needed for my one night stay. The pool and view of the ocean was amazing. However the staff was not very helpful. My WIFI never did work and when I called the desk for help they were unable to assist me--they said they would call back with more info but never did. The furnishings were very out of date and not so comfortable--especially the bed. Having a washer/dryer was pretty wonderful though! They provided one thing of detergent and I was able to (unexpectedly) wash all of my dirty vacation clothes before traveling home. Overall I wish I had stayed in a regular hotel but this was fine for one night.

Nice view and close to KonaPosted Mar 3, 2015
Location: It is only 2 miles from the heart of Kona action although it can take 15 minutes to get there, if you leave at the busy morning commute time.
This is a decent facility right on the ocean. I booked this 5 months in advance for a 20 year anniversary. We got in late and were given the worst suite of all. It really bugs me that hotels do this. We complained and were given the chance to move to a better unit the next day, once it was cleaned. That unit was what the pics on the website showed and was right on the ocean, albeit the forth floor. We really did enjoy it though and the unit was clean and fairly well equipped if we had desired to make out own meals. Hey, we're on a second honeymoon vacation so all we used was the coffee maker and microwave ;)

Condo close to a non-swimming, but walkable beachPosted Feb 5, 2015
Pros: The comfort of the condo and the ability to have meals in when we wanted.
Cons: See above
Location: See above
Our condo was in excellent condition and very comfortable. We had an ocean view and a lanai on which to enjoy it and have breakfast. The kitchen was quite adequate and the bedroom and two bathrooms were fine. We would stay there again. Its location in the middle of Kona is convenient, near shops, etc. Lydgate Beach, a public beach with lifeguard is very near.

Nice hotel with no working elevator for our wing.Posted Feb 5, 2015
Pros: Great views of the ocean and clean rooms.
Cons: Please inform us if the elevator will be out of service!!
We had a good room and it was very clean but didn't realize that the elevator was being worked on for the ten days that we were to be there (and longer). Therefore we had to walk up and down three flights of stairs all the time. We were not informed of this before we checked in. The bar-b-Q grills did not work well. The pool was not clean the first day or two. The view of the waves and ocean was super.

Very nice place right on the beachPosted Jan 25, 2015
This was a very nice place for my family and I to stay. Condo style with large living/dining are, fully equipped kitchen, two bedrooms, two baths, and a deck with a great view of the ocean. Very comfortable. Very friendly staff. Only downside was the wi-fi signal was weak and performance was poor, possibly due to our being at one end of the property.

Wonderful condo.Posted Jan 17, 2015
Pros: views of water on deck, underground parking. Clean and spacious and quiet. Loved listening to ocean waves through the day and night.
Cons: amenities could include incidentals: dish washing soap, condiments and darkening curtains in bedroom.
Location: Beaches within walking distance, small marketplace. 2.5 mile walk to Kona center along Alii Drive. Easy access to main highways
Our condo was very quiet, had wonderful views of the water and was an easy commute by car or walking to market, beach or Kona downtown.
