“Great for family trips”
We loved the Holua Resort. It has a great location within a five minute walk to a beach and is very well maintained. Our condo had two bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths and was perfect for our family of four. The full kitchen and nearby grill made cooking a great option on days that we didn't stray to far from home. The grounds were immaculate and if your vision of Hawai'i includes palm trees, colorful flowers, and birds everywhere, then the Holua Resort is just right for you. It is also great that there are several decent sized pools in the complex, so there is bound to be one right next door to your unit and probably only one or two other couples/families sharing it. The only negatives for us were the fact that our unit was a couple of minute walk from the parking area (which adds up when you make that walk several times a day) and the unit had a musty smell that took a couple of hours to clear up when we first arrived. Overall, I would highly recommend the Holua Resort to anyone staying in the Kailua-Kona area of the Big Island.
“Big Island condo”
Was wonderful place to stay. We used it as our "home base" for exploring the whole island, but also spent some wonderful time there at the condo with the beautiful accomodations and landscaping and pools.
“This is a great place to stay”
I can't say that I'm exactly a world traveller, but this hotel is by far the best I've ever stayed in. The staff was very courteous and the rooms were way beyond clean. Both bedrooms of the suite were located on the ground floor and the family room, kitchen and balcony were upstairs. This was especially nice as early risers didn't disturb those who wanted to sleep later.
“Very Impressed”
The room we stayed in was just beautiful could not believe how big it was. I would highly recommend to anyone to stay here.
“Would definately stay there again!”
It was great, the rooms were clean and the resort was beautiful. It's a quick drive to the beach and into town. The hotel staff was very helpful. A rental car is a must! You can book all of your excursions at the resort for great prices which was very convenient.
“Perfect for families and groups”
My mom, brother and two kids and I went to Hawaii island for a short one week family vacation and this hotel was exactly what we needed. It's not in crowded, noisy, Kailua Kona, but 20 minutes away in Keauhou. There were two large bedrooms with full baths and king beds downstairs, a fullly equipped kitchen, large combo dining room/living room with a little den like room adjoining with two queen pull out sofas. There are eight little pools on the property that the kids practically lived in every day and a little video library, a few books, an exercise room and daily craft type activities sponsored by the resort. Keauhou shopping center, KTA, movie theaters, Longs, and Thai, pizza, sushi, L&L, bar and grill, crepes, and health food stores and restaurants are five minutes away.
“Beats the best 5 star hotel in the area”
Very nice hotel/condo. The room is very clean and the service is great.
“Felt like a home”
We had stayed in the Mauna Loa Village before (but not under the Holua umbrella)in a one bedroom condo and had loved it. This time, we went back and stayed at Holua at the Mauna Loa Village in a two bedroom condo. I was absolutely flabberghasted! The one bedroom had been wonderful and brought us back (along with the lovely grounds and multiple pools), but the two bedroom was even better. These are two floor units, with two bedrooms with large ensuit baths on the bottom floor, laundry in a closet, and a stairwell up to the living/dining and kitchen. Each bedroom had sliding glass doors out to a small lanai with table and chairs, as well as a huge picture window looking out onto the grounds in a different direction. Upstairs, there was a half bath and an additional den. This condo was advertised as sleeping 6, but it could have easily slept 8, as there were sleeper sofas in both the living room and the den. Each bedroom, the living room, and the den all had large televisions as well. And of course beautiful picture windows all along the living room/dining room, with sliding glass doors going out onto a balcony with table and chairs. The grounds are lush, and well manicured. The staff were generous, extremely helpful and unobtrusive. There is even a shared computer available for you to check your e-mail, which came in very handy. This is the nicest place I have ever stayed at in Hawaii, including condos in Waikoloa Village.
“Great Resort! Would stay again!”
only a few miles from the heart of Kona but centrally located to tour the west side of the island! Room was wonderful! Washer and dryer was great since we spent everyday in the water!
“Quiet and relaxed”
