“Amazing place”

This is not a hotel, its a three bedroom cabin with lots of character. It has a well equipped kitchen with some basic supplies ready in the fridge. There is large lounge room with wood fire and large moose head on the wall! The guest book has comments dating back to the 1920s that provide an interesting read. The location is great, very close to the National Park entry. We would definitely go back, and recommend this place to anyone looking for something a little bit unusual.

“Perfect for 2 couples or family”

Lovely and quite location. Very clean with all mod cons supplied, even soap powder for the washing machine. No shops within walking distance however if you have a car it was no problem. This is the type of holiday where a car is a must have as there is so much see on a BIG island.

“Lava Tube Hale. Nice cottage!”

We were at the Mauna Laua Cottage. Extremely well located at 5 minutes from the volcanoes natural park. Cottage was nice and spacious for the 4 of us (2 kids). Bea was friendly and full of resources at the office; do not hesitate to ask for advices! We will come again.

“Nice getaway”

Location was very convenient to Kilauea park / crater. Very inconvenient to the active vents on the lava flow to the south (this requires driving back to Hilo then south). Cabin was charming and appropriately stocked. Set back behind the trees so not viewable from the road. Would go back again.

“A cottage in the woods”

This was a great place to stay, but be aware that it is not a "hotel" in any sense of the word.....it is a series of totally separated cottages in residential areas. They have all the attributes of vacation cottages, i.e. no central heat (and it was COLD when we were there), no curtains on the windows, bottled water to drink, etc. etc. This was a very comfortable place to stay, but it certainly did not feel like a luxury hotel experience.

“One or two problem”

The manager was not very fast in returning calls.We were incertain if we could drink the water for example-tried phoning her several times to no avail Toaster not working and plumbing in main bathroom wash basin took ages to drain.Little things like these can make a difference.The manager had told us the place was basic but these details needed to be addressed.

“Lov”

Beate was absolutely brilliant, and you must try her chocolate and cookies. Really peaceful and lovely place to stay.

“Great place to stay near volcano”

Private, one bedroom home near volcano. Only problem occured with early arrival and no one available to take our bags. Otherwise no problem.
